  • Not my luck

So on Friday I ordered £120 worth of minature wargaming stuff, 1st class, guess what happens? The day after, Royal Mail workers all over the country started a series of 24 hours strikes, supposedly lasting a week.

So god knows when I will get the delivery and now i have to bloody wait in for it until it does.

Oh wonderful, that means I may have a wait for my wig that I need in 8 days! Because I fly out next Wednesday to Dragon*Con.

One thing I can say for certain is that mail centres will be operating even though it maybe under capacity they will still try to get as much mail processed as they can. That and the strikes are only hitting certain mail centres which means they'll just re-route the mail to one operating.

Believe I know what goes on with the Royal Mail as my hubby works at one of the main mail processing centres here and gives me all the gossip. He has never been a member of the Union. (Personnel politics and the fact they'll strike as soon as look at working ) During one walkout at his place by a group of workers it took three hours to notice and was only noticed because they could get to the coffee machine.

Well accoridsng to the news, the place worst affected is London, Meanwhile my package is coming from Merseyside, so no idea when it'll be arriving.

I have to wait, because the package is in my mums name, even though it's for me (paid by her card, with her permission) because invariably at the depot they wouldn't allow me to pick it up (I don't have any form of ID whatsoever, don't drive, etc etc) so that means only she could, and she's not got a day off until next week.

I don't get postal strikes, cause you really aren't making people to like you, Alright, I can understand wanting pay improvements and job security but really, you want to make your job better by not doing it? (I don't mean to sound sucky here, like i said i can understand wanting better things from your workplace) Imagine if other professions started doing that, Doctors, Surgeons, Ambulance Drivers etc etc. So give your hubby a cookie from me for not being part of the strike loving union

What gets me is that it's not a 1 off strike to get your point across, it's a week long session of 24 hour strikes. Why oh why couldn't they have started it today (tuesday) instead of starting it the day after i ordered something 1st Class (but which went out too late to get delivered saturday, which is the day they started)

I really hope it comes soon, because knowing my luck, the postie won't knock, just try my buzzer which doesn't work and then assume i'm not in, so i have to be watching out all the time. Thankfully my mum is off on Wednesday so she can give me a bit of a break by house sitting while I go out and take a break from waiting.

Well, I got the reference number from the people who posted it and.....IT'S STILL IN THE BLOODY DEPOT IN THE TOWN WHERE IT WAS POSTED. Recieved on Friday too.
