  • Got my learner's permit!

Greetings, I have a tale of my grand day.

Out of the blue, when my mother and sister picked me up, I said, "Let's go to the DMV (department of motor vehicles) because it's time I get my permit."

One hour later and a nerve-shot mind, I had a pretty piece of paper stating I passed the test (missed 4 out of 36) and drove. Now, I've driven before in emergencies - such as my mother not being able to see during the daytime but needing medicine badly - but today?

Today, I drove on the grade which is a winding road leading to the freeway. I drove on the freeway for the first time in my life. It was scary how many idiots there are. But I survived and next week, I shall be taking my license test.

Then we went to Olive Garden to celebrate. Never-ending pasta bowl, yummy!

    I. Am. So. Happy.

    Congrats!
It's a great feeling, isn't it? And - from a driver to another- speeding tickets are expensive.

I'm a speed freak...I love the roar of Harleys and bikes. I love hearing the V-8 engines at a red light. I love pushing the gas pedal to the floor and hauling ass.

    But don't. Unless you're on a racetrack.

From my experience - I've been only driving for 8 or 9 years. And it's a real BITCH to wait through tickets on your record. it costs lots of money...grrr.

So, hey. Enjoy, and learn DEFENSIVE driving. Learn how to not just use mirrors, but also the windows. And learn how to tell the steering wheel that the guy who cut you off is a schmuck...not yell it at him.

The idea of speeding scares me! Especially with the people around here! =\ I, too, love the roar of real motorcycles (Harley Davidson's mmm!). I'll try to not get a ticket, I'm too poor for that, haha!

      Thank you for the advice.

Congrats! I just got my license about 5 months ago. It is an AWESOME feeling Word of warning though, don't be really nervous when you take the driving test. I failed the first time because I was nervous (and the instructor was a jackass, but I won't go into that). The second time I was a lot more calm and new what to expect (and because it was a familiar area this time around), and passed. Good luck!
