  • Whoa, gelato with a kick!

My coworkers and I have gotten addicted to Ciao Bella gelato and sorbetto. We are trying to taste all the flavors! www.ciaobellagelato.com We even talk back and forth with them on Twitter.

Today, one of the Art Girls came in with one of the flavors I'd been dying to try...Chocolate Jalapeno! So with a bit of trepidation, we dug in...

Holy SMOKES that stuff is good!! A lovely creamy chocolate gelato...and then the jalapeno kicks in! A good strong burn, which combines with the chocolate flavor. My mouth is still burning from it (each bite soothes the burn for a minute, then it flares back up with a vengeance), and I'm craving more!

    YUM.

Awww, that's sad! You can order it from their site, but it's a little pricey.

Oh, yeah, chocolate with kick is the best.

I refuse to make brownies anymore without a little bit of cayenne.

          Ooooh, that sounds good!

I've grown to love spices. Not fond of most Mexican spices (they often seem to be just hot, with no real flavor), but Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Indian, etc? YUM!

I grew up with pretty much the blandest spices ever: salt. pepper. mayo. mustard. cinnamon. cheapo taco seasoning packets.

When I moved to LA, I dove into the spices and ethnic foods. Still loving it. It cracks my coworkers up when we go for pho, because I turn my broth almost pink with the chili sauce. Brings tears to my eyes, but it's soooooooooo good that way!

            Oh, it is.

A couple months ago I made double chocolate brownie cookies into which I sprinkled a bit of cayenne. What I really wanted to add was red pepper flakes, because I wanted little pockets of spice, not an overall burn, but I couldn't find them.

Dunno if it exists in the US, but SPC Fruit Sorbets are heaven!

I've been eating them quite a bit lately due to the docs request that I do a plain/elimination diet for a week or two. It's mostly fruit puree, but when frozen for a while and eaten....yum!
