...I almost came home with a new Kitty...

I was on my way home from running some errands and decided "HEY I'll go to the local pet store!".... I know this is a bad idea, it always is a bad idea... too many cute pleading eyes. Too much fluffy adorableness, too many beautiful reptiles...*sighs* I was doing good, I played with the kittens for a little bit (have the scratches to prove it ) petted the puppies... But then.... dear god...

I was getting ready to leave when I walked by one of the kittens who had been sleeping earlier. And it broke my heart.... someone had cut the poor things whiskers down to barely a quarter of an inch. This little fluffy grey tabby kitten with the cutest big amber eyes... I mean... how can someone be dense enough to cut a cats whiskers? And he was the sweetest thing, purring rubbing up against the bars... I stayed for almost a half hour just petting him. $29.99.... I was so close to just taking him home. ... But Art would not be happy with me... nither would the Beau... and I don't know if we have room for a kitten right now.... But Ya'll *sighs* poor kitten... such a sweet little heart in that one.


((note: I really don't want to start a debate about animal cruelty... that goes in Fratching. He just looked so sad with his stubby little whiskers))

Edit: 9/3- I told the beau about the kitten.... he said I should have brought him home O.O I was shocked.... he also said if the kitten is still there on our day off this week we might go adopt him.

THe boy and I went to a shelter this weekend, and we almost brought home a cat...a LARGE 15 yr old male......so wanted.

I went to the local animal shelter on Sunday, just to check it out. They have a handful of dogs in a row of kennels in the back room, I saw one that looked like a jack russell, maybe, and a pit bull (or something similar), and a few others but I couldn't get a good look at them.

The rest of the place is filled with cats...there are two rooms with kennels stacked 3 high along each of the long walls, more cages in the front room by the desk (and most of them have multiple kitties, some litters of kittens, some older cats sharing a "room," though several of the older cats had their own cage), and cats roaming around the place, on the desk, on top of the kennels, on top of the trash can in the hallway....they said there are about 200 cats...and it is not a big building.

I wish I could have taken out all the little kittens and played with them all at once (I didn't ask to take anyone out but a few did play with me through the bars). And the one on the trash can was very friendly...or she was trying to claw me...I'm not quite sure...

Some people are just mean... or don't realize how much kitties rely on whiskers. ^_^ But they grow back which is the good thing. My kitties whiskers are my favorite part of her too. *hearts*

OMG that is how the kitten looked! OO. ... but the whiskers were short... but I'm sure he would have "tickle me" whiskers if they were grown!
