Got home today and put some laundry out. My neighbour wanted to know if I'd heard anything about what was going on. Since I'd been at work all day, I made a face that put a question mark above my head.

The police had been raking the local playing fields, and it was still taped off and guarded. A nearby snicket in the direction of the local shops was blocked and guarded.

A somewhat dubious chap approached us diffidently as we were chatting. Local reporter, as it turns out - he wanted to know if we'd heard anything. Nope - so what he'd heard is that a burglary went wrong and the police were searching for a murder weapon that had been used on a sixty-year-old bloke down the estate.

Fuck.

The attack happened in his house during the burglary, from what I understand. I get the impression he lived near the alley.

Four People Arrested in Murder Investigation

This is an update in relation to the murder investigation in
Raschester.
We can now confirm that the victim is 60 year old ********.

Four people have been arrested after a murder investigation was
launched yesterday (Saturday, 5th September) following the
discovery of a man's body in a flat in Raschester.
A 57 year old woman, 37 year old man, 18 year old man and 18 year
old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being
detained at Police Stations throughout West Yorkshire - where
they will be interviewed in connection with the murder of a 60
year old man.
The examination of the murder scene on Argle Crescent will
continue today.

The Ambulance Service was called to an address on Argle
Crescent in Raschester at 10.15am today (Saturday, 5th September)
where the body of a 60 year old man was discovered.
Police have now launched a murder investigation.

Gets worse.

Just spoken to a neighbour two more doors down. Victim was suffering from lung cancer. One of the people arrested - the 57-year-old woman - was his carer, since he'd discharged himself from hospital. Her daughter (one of the eighteen-year-olds) had apparently been boasting about what she was going to do to the guy. Tied up is one aspect, torture is another.

On my doorstep. Poor bugger. Wish I'd known.
