You could try it at least. What I did with the cherries was put them in a jar, add a pound of sugar and cover them with vodka. I didn't mash them up or anything. I don't think I'd mash up the blackberries either. Just put them in and let it go. You have to let it sit for at least 4 weeks. Then I'd taste it and see what it was like before straining out the fruit.
