  • Our Yard Is Not Your Gym

A couple of months ago Roommate 1# held a yard sale. One of our neighbors contributed some items to the sale. One of the items being this 300 weight lifting machine. The neighbor never reclaimed and has since moved.

Not wanting to lug it into the backyard or pay to have it removed, my boyfriend left it where it was and put a free sign on it. A couple of nights ago, Roommate 2# heard a commotion in the yard.

He comes out and sees four teenagers taking turns using the machine. He tells the teenagers that if they like the machine so much they are free to take it home. One of the teenagers has the audacity to say "That's okay, dude, we'll just come here and use it."

After our roommate tells them that they either have to take the machine home or stay off our property, the teenagers stormed off. Now we have decided to just leave it in the backyard until we figure out what to do with it.

I can't believe the nerve of those kids, thinking they were just going to hang out on our property whenever they felt like it.

Put up a sign saying "For Sale".

It will be gone far sooner.

Alternatively, look for your local Freecycle group (freecycle.org).

Yep. Worst case someone will offer you cash for it. People assume "free" stuff is broken in some way, put i out for sale cheap, even $20-$50 and it will be gone within a day or two.

Raps and Draggar have just made it clear to me why no one takes me up on my "free to a good home" stickers.
