  • Asus Reseller?

So, I was showing my Opa some things on the computer and after about 30 mins, I had to plug it in. He got a disgusted look that it only lasted 30 mins. I told him that when I bought the laptop, it lasted closer to 2 hours, but since the battery as slowly started to lose its capacity. I told him I was working on saving for a new laptop.

To him, school is my number 1 priority. So he asked me if I used it for school and I told him all the time. Then he said, "y'know FL, I think I can help you out. You pick out a laptop buy it, and I'll pay you back entirely."

So, I'm kind of weighing the options of a Mac or an Asus. Really, I'd get the Mac, load windows on it and enjoy the longer battery life and sexy hardware. But, Asus has a lot of really attractive offerings too.

In my area, we have Best Buy. Anyone know of any good online resellers for Asus products?

Newegg.com or tigerdirect.com are great places to get them online! Sounds like you're Dutch or possibly from one of the Dutch colonies (or former) like me since you call your grandpa Opa.

I have also had good results buying from ubid.com. Their stuff is pretty much all refurbished back off lease items, and occasionally overruns.

I'm just going to point out that you actually lose an insane amount of battery life on a Macbook if you swap it to Windows. At least 20%. Keep that in mind.

I don't know anything about your school requirment, but I'm considering swapping to OSX next time I need a laptop for school. So you might just want to stick with that

Yeah, but 20% of 8 hours still beats 3-4 hours on just about any other laptop.

I'm probably going to go with the Asus though. I could either or, but I'm really leaning towards Asus. I've always liked their products and I hear good things about them.

            But, thanks for the info.

Update your BIOS. I have a laptop that wasn't charging its battery properly, and a BIOS update fixed it.

Oh.... Asus is awesome, especially for gamers. The amount of memory and graphics on them is insane!

I'm going to say at this point in the game, it's just the battery. Like I said, I've had the thing nearly 3 years.

Since I've had it, it's probably been on everyday I've had it and plugged in.

My little Asus has served me faithfully for a couple years now despite being banged around in my backpack to and from work every day. I'll stick with them next time I go to upgrade to a newer shiny.

Poor little thing hasn't let me down yet despite the abuse.
