I'm not yet sure what to pick, but an absolutely essential side feature of any superpower I'd want would be a very strong SEP field built in. Because all the trouble starts when others notice.

Mine would probably be earth manipulation. Think earthbenders from Avatar the last airbender. I could get across the country really quickly. Chuck rocks at people (SCs
) Be able to tell if someone was behind me(vibrations from walking)

Oh, what I'd want. The list of choices is long. Teleportation, Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, Wings, Superstrength, Invisibility, Time Stop...
Choosing just one would be tough. But I think I'd have to go with a creation of my own. String Manipulation. As in String Theory. The ability to manipulate the energy strings that make up all matter and energy in the universe. I think I could manifest the other powers as I wanted, then.
If that didn't go, I'd go with Telekinesis. Flight, Force Fields, Superstrength, and more all in one power. The Case of the Missing Mandrake; A Jude Derry, Sorceress Sleuth Mystery Available on Amazon.

I'd love telepathy (both mind-reading and sending thoughts into somebody's mind) above anything else.
- Walk into a bar, scan the room for a girl thinking "Wow, he's hot" while looking at me, call two of her favorite drink and go from there
- Read customers' minds via the phone and give them exactly what they're looking for before they even finish asking for it. Or convince them that when I say there is no listing for X, there is no listing for X.
- If I happen to pick a fight, know what my opponent will do before s/he even starts moving.

How'd I do?

(I know, I know... bad EPG)
I had a character in an RPG that had telekinesis and carried a packing gun with a roll of clear packing tape... When the other characters or NPCs were watching, I would use the gun to 'shoot' tape at people. Didn't use telekinesis for anything else when others were around.

Jumping like in the book Jumper. I think he could take up to the equivalent in size/weight of a 25 cubic foot refrigerator as he fit out an isolated cave and transported a small generator fuel and a girlfriend there.
The only thing I would change is the need to have been somewhere and seen it to be able to jump there...I figure if I can google earth or street view, or see a photo someone took that should be good enough.
Imagine the money Id save shopping .... pop into the shrubbery around the corner from the Real in Boblingen, wander in with a cart, fill it up, find a reasonably isolated corner of the store and *pop* out cart, groceries and all ... then figure out where to dump the cart later =) If I was in the mood for exotic pockys, pop over to Japan somewhere and do the same.
Not sure I would try robbing banks ... though the ghost disguise from Scream would be a hoot ... pop into the vault and loot it. Only vid is a ghost popping in and out of a locked vault =)EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

Picking only one power is tricky, because the wrong use of one can cause problems with another.
Super Strength for example, is only useful as long as you aren't trying to lift more weight than you skeletal structure can handle, and I'm assuming some of those reading this have seen the video about 1 super power (Mutant healing or adamantium claws?)
Anyway, I would go with either Shapeshifting (look Ma, no more gut!
) or Invulnerability.

I would expect Super Strength to include muscle, tendon, skeleton, etc., just as I would expect Shapeshifting to be at least mostly safe from dropping over dead because you didn't think through how your insides would be arranged in the new form, or falling apart because you stopped thinking about what shape you were in, and of course any useful form of teleportation would have to have some safety against popping up inside a wall or right in front of a speeding truck.
I was trying to come up with a power involving being able to access anything that's ever been recorded, but it got too complicated. Assuming it's safe, I'll go with shapeshifting. Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

There was a character that appeared in Grant Morrison's version of "The Doom Patrol" called The Quiz. She had every superpower you hadn't thought of.Quoth HYHYBT View PostI was trying to come up with a power involving being able to access anything that's ever been recorded, but it got too complicated. To defeat her, you had to keep shouting out names of superpowers. When you did, she would lose that power (for a period of time, I guess... she wasn't around long enough to see if the powers returned).
But I'll stick with Mind Control."Kamala the Ugandan Giant" 1950-2020 • "Bullet" Bob Armstrong 1939-2020 • "Road Warrior Animal" 1960-2020 • "Zeus" Tiny Lister Jr. 1958-2020 • "Hacksaw" Butch Reed 1954-2021 • "New Jack" Jerome Young 1963-2021 • "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 1949-2021 • "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton 1958-2021 • Daffney 1975-2021

The last line. So much potential for the movement of any object with your will alone. To fly, all you'd need to do is lift yourself. If you wanted to go fast, just keep pushing your body. An especially low-level version would even go as far as to take on the forms of Pyro- and Cryokinesis, as those would simply be moving (or stopping) the atoms in any given object or area to affect their temperature.Quoth Stormraven View PostOh, what I'd want. What he said! I would also like the power to turn it off so I'm not always hearing people's thoughts.Quoth Dave1982 View PostEasy.....I'd want telepathy. I have a tendency to fret over what people might be thinking about me or something I said/did. Telepathy would solve the problem. Hm, I'm always stuck between invisibility and telepathy.
On the one hand, it'd be pretty damn useful to get out of a tight spot if you could become invisible and no one can find you. Also, it'd help me get past those people at the front door collecting cover charges. Or if someone is being an ass, I can go invisible, hit him, then get away.
On the other hand, telepathy would really help with picking up chicks."I've found that when you want to know the truth about someone, that someone is probably the last person you should ask." - House
