One way to find out.

I find it really helps to be standing and open your diaphragm. You get a far better resonance then, and with a bit of luck people won't recognise it for what it is at first.

I've occasionally managed to perform the belch to herald the apocalypse before. I can tell that those around were impressed, and it's a good feeling.

its not like im embarrassed by it, i usually feel proud when i have a good one. plus if i do let a good one out, guys are usually like WHAT?? lol a big burp from a small girl (im not short....but i dont think people expect that from me)lol

i wouldnt dare fart at work tho, seriously. i'll complain about walking into a customers fart all the time, so why would i do it lol

I've got a similar situation with the bathrooms and the cafeteria in my college. The Cafeteria is connected in many ways to the information technology building with the computer labs. Whenever you pass by the bathrooms down one of the hallways, you can smell whatever it is the cafeteria is cooking. Fairly strongly, too.

I wonder if it works both ways...

Yup, but if you're going to do it, do it right. Make one one the panic inducing level. If that doesn't make them come in wondering, then they can't hear you.

If we were closer, I'd loan you my younger son to check the acoustics. He has the most incredible belch control. He outbelches grown men. He could belch out an entire sentence for you.
