So, I actually dragged my carcass out of bed this morning and went for a walk. There's a really quiet side street behind my apartment, so I walk down 5 blocks, then turn around and walk right back. Very quiet, lots of trees and cute, quirky, little houses. (I LOVE looking at all the weird houses, this town has a lot of them!)
Anyway, I'm nearly to my turn around point, when I see a mom with a 5(ish) year old daughter and a baby in a stroller. Walk past, say hello, go on. About a block after I turn around, I run back into her, and she stops me, "Do you live in this neighborhood?" "Not exactly, I live at XX and XX" She said, "Well, we've lost a cat..." And at this point I can see the tears welling up in the little girls face. She's lost her kitty!
Anyway, they give me the description and their address, and I tell them I'll keep my eyes open as I walk. Tell the little girl good luck, and I hope she finds him, and the poor thing really is about to cry. Felt so bad for her - man, have I been there.
So, I keep walking home, this time with my eyes open for a yellow-orange-ish tabby with white stripes. Get almost to my house to discover two kids sitting on the sidewalk....attempting to turn it into a toll bridge, I guess.
I simply say excuse me, and walk around....to have this small girl practically throw herself in front of me! Her (older) brother grabbed her and pulled her down....couldn't hear what they said since I had my MP3 player in...odd.
And now I need to get myself in the shower, 'bout to head over to McGee's house. He's making me dinner, I made brownies, and I finally get a chance to hang out with his kitties. (I've met them briefly, once.) I'll be packing Mucinex, nose spray, and eye drops - just in case!
