Well, I'm having surgery next week.
Maybe.
Went to the hospital for a pre-surgical screening yesterday, no problems there. Then my surgeon's office calls to let me know that they haven't been able to contact the urologist yet and it will probably be another 2 weeks before I have surgery. Oh great, now that I have my leave from work cleared and all the arrangements made, yeah, thanks a ton. Oh, and thanks for also telling me a week before surgery that I was supposed to get a clearance for surgery from my MD. You know, it would have sucked a little if I went to the hospital next week (since they still have me scheduled for the 30th), get my IV going, get me all prepped, and then everyone starts wondering where the f*ing surgeon is. I'm through with this office, and am trying to get seen by another surgeon who did my colonoscopy a few months ago. Called to ask if he would consider doing my surgery and his nurse said he'd be happy to do it. So that's a good sign.
I got the paperwork for my employer from the other office yesterday as well. I was reading it over, and they included a transcript from my C/T scan a few weeks ago. Found some shocking details there.
-Both the adrenals are well seen today and appear normal. The small low-density nodule suggested in the left adrenal on the prior examination is no longer apparent.
Whoa, wait, hold on a damn minute. The WHAT? That doesn't sound good. I guess since it isn't there anymore that's a good thing?
-There again was noted to be diffuse fatty infiltration of the liver.
Yeah, I remember they said something about that after my emergency surgery last year. Kind of forgot about it. I guess it's nothing to worry about since no one else seems to care.
-There is again seen to be an ostomy in the upper left pelvis with redundant loops.
You mean I still have a colostomy? Oh wait, I ALREADY KNEW THAT! Kind of hard to miss it. It just seems silly to even note this.
-The bladder is small and somewhat thick-walled.
So I have a small bladder. Well, that explains why I sometimes have to pee every 5 minutes. But thick-walled? What the hell does that mean? *Googles* Oh, yay, a thick-walled bladder could be a sign of a cyst. OR F*ING CANCER!!!!
So yeah. Back to my MD today.
