Haven't seen a thread for it yet this year...so...

Who's in and what are you thinking about doing?

I'm plotting out a video game parody that I want to make into a sprite webcomic when it's done. Completely for the lulz, but also pointing out things that just kinda bug me about the rpg genre in games as a whole. Like, y'know, the whole breaking and entering part of being a hero in a game. So there's going to be two parties of heroes, one in pure video game mode and the other living with the consequences of the first. I'm hoping it works.

I'm going to give it a try again this year. I have a vague idea for a cosy murder mystery. Based in a hotel. It's a Front Desk Associate that gets the axe to the back.

It'll be fun this year, since it's something I actually wanted to do to the co-irker at the time!

Oh, and if you're on it this year or again this year, be sure to friend me! My Screen Name there is "Evil Queen" also!

Missed the event last year and the year before (which whas when I first learned about it.)

      I'll do it this year.

Probably a post-apocalyptic drug war sorta thing.

I've just made an account, heaven help me. I'm GaarDNous on there.

Not a damn clue what I'm doing, though. It'll probably be fantasy, though it might be a sci-fi setting I've been world-building in that I don't have any stories for right now.

What kind of setting is it? Might be able to help you generate ideas.

          And found you on there!

Post-apocalyptic on a planet that served as a base for launching interstellar colony ships. They've got a very odd blend of tech, some that's left over from before, other stuff that they've developed from scratch, mostly wind powered.

I've got some religion worked out, and a bit of naming tradition. I'm not really sure how governance works.

I write slowly so I never do NaNoWriMo, but I often use the deadline to make myself finish a certain number of things (write a complete, revised short story, finish X number of reviews, get this many pages of my novel finished). I've been writing even slower since the baby came, but I still try to write every day, even if it's only 15 minutes. This year I want to revise two short stories and get them ready for submissions and get a decent chunk of my novel done.

Well, I'm doing it this year. I hope between work and school I'll be able to reach the 50,000 word mark. Good thing I have a lot of free time at work! By the way, I'm PurpleFaerie on there.

ETA: I'll probably be doing a fantasy story about a character I roleplay online... Set in both in Renaissance and current eras.

Have done Nano for years. I think (I have to go check) I am registered under Bluezinthenight.

Didn't know what I was going to write about this year but after 2 weeks in a beach house with my mother and aunt I think I'm going to do a novel about 3 crazy sisters from the deep south rehashing their childhood issues.

Cannot WAIT for NaNo! It's my 6th year!

I'm sooooo excited about my story: it's set on Mars, in about 100 years. It's still something of a frontier, but the colony is big enough to support a small university--talented high school students are scouted by corporations, and the most skilled are sent to Mars University, where the corporations pay for their education and training in needed skills. After graduation, the student works for the corporation for four years to pay back the tuition; at the end of that time, they may be offered a full job with the corporation, but they are free to change jobs. My heroine is trained in wilderness survival, tracking, and geology, and is sponsored by a corporation that tracks down old space junk and cleans it up. She is determined to find the long-lost Phoenix Lander.

I made a trailer for the story here: http://www.viddler.com/explore/SaintJoi/videos/137/

Click on "Authors". It took me a while to figure out, I was expecting a more obvious search option.

They don't have the best web layout...maybe one day they'll revamp the site.

But Arctic, for your setting, would the government be an entirely new development or would there still be a power base left over from pre-apoc times?

That's because they don't have much money, and only a teeny tiny office. However, visiting the Office of Letters and Light is a blast, because it's so tiny. When my friends and I went, Chris Baty showed us around, being sure to point out the wall map, the conference table (a folding card table), their new shelves that hadn't been put together because they couldn't figure out how, and the ficus tree. Plus, all the board members have Viking helmets to wear during meetings. It's so ghetto that it's awesome.
