  • Yay! New Hair!

As some of you know fro my previous posts, I had a very close friend the past two years whose hygiene was far from..er.. tolerable. Due to her inability to keep herself lice free, my own hair suffered from it; I've been trying to grow out my hair for *years* and finally had it halfway to my goal when I moved to WA and because of H's lice infestation, I got infested and since the first time I kept my locks super short. (Yeah, I should have stopped hanging out with her after the second infestation I suffered but.. whatever. Hindisght's 20/20, no?)

Anyway, H stopped talking to me about a year ago. To this day, I don't know why and finally I don't give a flying duck.

My hair is finally at a length I'm comfortable with and last night, I decided to put away the red hues of henna. Instead, I went back to my goth roots and dyed my hair blue black. Out of a whim, I also gave myself bangs. For a brief moment, I regreted the change but then the husband turned to me and told me that I looked like a Latina version of Lucy Lawless (Xena).

    I'm super pleased.

Amazing what pruning frenemies does to a person's self esteem and looks, no? (Yeah, I also lost weight since last October too, so, nyah H.)

PPS: and the reason I'm 'comfortable' with my hair length again is that I'm back to where it had been two years ago, halfway to my original goal. YAY!

And yes, I was super irritated in the second picture. My modem kept crapping out on me and I don't know what's going on. This is the third splitter we've gotten and I guess me switching out the cables has helped considerably but still... -.- This is the reason I haven't gamed on the web anymore.

Good job. My wife feels the same way, some self maintenance (or paid maintenance) always gives her a boost in self esteem.

YAY for new hair. I want to do that myself. You mentioned Henna, may I ask where you got it? Did you get it locally or online? I want to switch to that from chemical dye but not sure where to get it.

      Thanks.

          Alright, you twisted my arm.

I'll post before and after pictures when I get home.

Shpepper: when I get home I'll send you the links and information I got. I got three bags of henna and one of them was more than enough for my hair at the time. It came out a nice reddish color and I had plenty to still goof around with for other projects too.

Thank you. I want to do my hair and I love the body art that can be done with it too. I wasn't sure if you got it online or if there was somewhere here in WA that I could go to to get it.

There are a couple of nice little Indian shops in Renton that sell it that I'm aware of but the quality of the henna I bought there to what I got online was drastically different. I didn't have to sift it to no end to remove the junk out. For about the same price I got three large bags of henna and they arrived at my door in two days. Let me see if I have that info on me right now. Maybe. I keep everything. Drives my husband nuts.

                Shpepper: Here you go.

                http://www.hennapage.com/henna/where/suppliers.html

If you're unsure of what brand henna to buy, get the samples. All you pay for is shipping and handling. I knew I wanted to go with the reddest I could get. I have so much henna left over from six months ago that its sitting in two carrot bags in my freezer. I should thaw it out and go to town.

I just felt I needed a change and I completely forgot I could have bought indigo from this site too.

PS: The great thing is that this is art quality henna so it doesn't have unlisted stuff which is a good thing. I'm sure there are other little shops that have them, and maybe even the same brands listed on the site but, I haven't had the pleasure of going sight seeing since I moved here.

Horray for new hair! I've been thinking of getting henna highlights in my hair (I have dark brown curly long hair), but I'm not doing them myself since I've never ever dyed nor have I ever put in highlights in my hair at all. I'll ask SO if he'd be okay with that. I cut off about 8 inches of my hair and he was none to pleased. He can have his opinion, but that doesn't mean he gets the final word.

I imagine that Pike's place Market would have a store that carries that sort of thing. I swear they have all sorts of odds and ends that you can't find anywhere else.

I suppose I could always go to the market but that requires me driving into seattle, finding a spot, paying for the parking and then having the misery of being reminded how much I hate driving up steep hill with a standard vehicle.

                      Then I get cranky.

I should invest in a bus pass. :X

I adore King County's metro system. Although, I was trying to take the bus to Federal Way once, and I got lost in Seattle (I didn't know I had to go underground...) and then I read in the newspaper how people get shot at the Federal Way transit center and I was like and now I refuse to leave Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland on public transit.

Also, if you do find yourself there at Pike Place, I'm almost certain you'd find what you'd be looking for. They have several places there that carry that kind of thing.

Are you serious, SINGE? omg. That transit station looks so nice and a lot of friends leave their cars there when they come to work. o.o; eep.

anyway, picture time. Hopefully my internet connection decides to be nice-- we're having problems with our router/splitter since we moved in. We're replacing the splitter for the third time and in a month, it'll die again.

Thanks so much. You are the third or fourth person that directed me to that page. I am going to order the samples next week I think.

Being out on the olympic peninsula, I never even thought about the Market. Should have, I love it there.

I didn't realize how many of us there were up here. YIPPEE for local CSer's.
