  • Got into a bit of an accident...

I got into an accident this morning. More than likely my car is going to bed totaled. My rear passenger wheel is practically in my trunk. I'm fine. I'm stiff, but fine.

I get to look for new cars. I'm going all out and getting nearly exactly what I want this time around. I really want the 2010 SHO, but that's not going to happen.

    I'm looking at:
    Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited's
    Ford Exploder Limited's
    Ford Edge

There were a couple of Passats that made me reconsider a VW. I only want the color black, white or red. I'm cashing out one of my investments so I can put down a hefty down payment. (Don't worry, I have others) and I'm getting what I want. I settled when I got my GTP and I'm convinced it was cursed.

Were you hit or did you make an oops maneuver?

If you were hit, please go to the doc and get xrays and checked over, just for documentation.

As for a car, if you buy a used VW, be careful, and have it mechanically inspected BEFORE purchasing it. Always. The early 200x-2005 models had issues with cracked radiators and other fundamental problems - nickle and dime shit. (from a mech friend of mine who inspected a VW Jetta for me).

Hugs, tylenol and I hope ya feel better soon!

Nah, I got hit. They ran a red.

I'm leaning more towards the Grand Cherokee and the Ford Exploder anyway. Thanks for the advice on the VW.

If you get a Jeep, make sure you have a mechanic that knows them. I have a Grand Cherokee Laredo which I LOVE but Jeep's can be finicky, so make sure you have a mechanic that knows what they're doing (either the dealership, if you trust them, or get recommendations from Jeep owners).

I'm glad you're okay, though I agree with Cutenoob -- go get yourself checked out. You never know what might have happened and you don't want something to come up two months from now that stemmed from this. Best to head anything off.

Sorry about your car though! But you're probably looking at a good time to buy -- the car company's are pretty desperate and you can get some good deals. If you want NEW, they're about to roll out the '10 cars, so you can get some awesome deals on 09s because they're trying to get them off the lot.

Good luck and, again, glad you're okay.

Personally I'd stay away from the vehicles you listed, just for gas /mpg issues. But I drive for enjoyment and commuting, not for transporting Stuff from Point A to Point B. It really does depend on what you do, when you purchase a car.

I like the Ford Focus, and the Honda Fit, the smaller cars. Just for the gas on it. But you're an adult, so it's all up to you. Keep looking around, and also check out edmunds.com for some good car /vehicle comparisons and pros/cons about the cars.

And go get checked up on. Really. And put it towards the other insurance's responsibility. You will need to be documented, just in case something larger comes up later.

I have an Edge and I love it. Glad you're ok, btw.

              Glad you weren't seriously hurt.

Very true. I bought my car in September (of '02), after an accident totaled my old car. I bought a new '02 and got a decent price because all the '03s were coming out. I have a Hyundai Elantra; I may be looking to replace it in the next year or so. My dad says the newer Elantras are a much better car than mine (and I haven't had any overly huge problems, though I did just spend $1100 on an exhaust leak last week). He also mentioned the Ford Focus.

Oh, and Advil...or Aleve. After my accident they gave me naproxen (same stuff that's in Aleve, but prescription strength) and a muscle relaxer. Be careful...the pain didn't really hit until the next day....

Glad you're OK! And I love the notion of a car going to bed. Never heard it before.

I don't really care so much about fuel mileage. I just want something nice. I'm tired of compromising with vehicles. Well... my SHO wasn't a compromise. I was and still am in love with the SHO.

I don't want some econo car. I really don't. Not my style. I spotted a 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited I really liked. But, I was searching some more and I saw a 2008 Grand Cherokee SRT8, which piqued my interest a lot.

I have a Honda CR-V 2002 model and I love it. It's a great SUV because it's not like driving a land whale but it still has enough space for 4 people, camping gear (for 4) and both my dogs. Bonus points that it also gets 23MPG. I think they look nice too. I personally hate fords with a passion because everyone I've ever owned has been crap and the tranny craps out really easy. I'm a big fan of honda and toyota. Especially their SUV's, because they do tend to get better MPG, but you're not compromising on size or torque. And I once saw an Exploder towing a small boat and it was the saddest thing ever. That thing should have been able to pull that size of a boat and it was obviously struggling...

My friend's mom had a 2004 Honda CR-V and that got some awesome mileage for a little SU-V. I'm a Honda fan all the way because of the dependability, gas mileage and durability those cars have and how kick ass they are too. One of the girls that I used to work with had a Honda Element, it looks like that Inspector Gadget car, but from what I heard, it's got a wicked system in it and has a nice amount of room in it too.

I'm horrible for car advice but it's good that you're OK andyou should go see a doctor just to be sure - injuries may not be noticeable for several days.

I'm a big Chevy Blazer fan, but I know that a lot of them can suck and that they don't make them anymore, so I am going to suggest a Toyota 4Runner....my friends back in Phoenix have bought two of them, one very recently, one ten or so years ago, and they still have both and both rock.
