  • Chocolate in Coffee

I don't make coffee much but when I do, I add chocolate syrup when I pour it into a mug/cup. Anyone else do this?

I've never tried that, but sounds really good. Guess I'll have to add chocolate syrup to my grocery list.

I used to mix my coffee with hot cocoa powder...its GREAT!!

But its really really good with.....(wait for it....) Peppermint Syrup or some kind of peppermint creamer. They usually start selling it around the holidays. And Starbucks always has some kind of minty cocoa-y thing for winter, i think.

I have been making mocha lattes at home for years. I like a mix of Ghiradelli powder and Hershey's Special Dark syrup best. At work we have drip coffee, so I bring hot cocoa mix to put in it.

What's really good is to get the seasonal mint chocolate syrup they come out with during the winter months.

Or Dark Chocolate syrup in coffee. Yummmmmmm.

Throw a few Hershey's kisses in there. You'll like that, I bet.

Hot cocoa powder with just a drop or two of Peppermint extract in coffee is awesome.

Or, a couple of drops of Vanilla Extract, sweeten with Brown Sugar (the baking kind-not the raw sugar).

Cool Whip on the top of said beverages with a dribble of chocolate syrup or a dash of Cinnamon (or both).

Go now- look at the extracts/spices- consider all the possibilities!

So many combos- so little time.

Yep, done it. Sometimes I put marshmellows in it too. Once I was desperate and put bits of hershey bar in it.

I also like adding peppermint. I need to find out where in my cabinet I put my peppermint extract, though.

I'd go with Redi-Whip whipped cream over Cool Whip...don't like coffee but I like hot cocoa. I find Cool Whip too sweet. If I do eat Cool Whip it has to be from the tub...my roomie got the new spray can once and it doesn't taste the same to me.

Though one time at work I went to put water from the coffee machine in the cafeteria in my cup to make hot chocolate (they sell the powder mix), and I wasn't paying attention (too early, I guess) and started to put coffee in the cup instead (the water spout is between the two coffee urns). I caught it before I put more than an inch or so of coffee in, so I filled the rest with water and added the HC mix. It wasn't too bad...drinkable, though I probably wouldn't do it again on purpose.

I'm tellin' ya, people, Ghiradelli. They have a hot cocoa mix, but if you leave that alone and go over to the baking aisle, you'll find ground chocolate & cocoa in a gold can, a dollar cheaper. Tastes the same.
