Anyone besides me use them? I mean stuff like this: O_o XD X_x I use them all the time on other forums, but I don't see many people using them here for some reason. Do people know what I mean when I post something like X_x or are they just scratching their heads and thinking, "What the hell does Lace mean?"

I use them all the time. <3

Edit: Okay, I don't use them here so much as I do on IM. Not sure why, but I'm like that with every message board, not just CS.

Maybe not as much whenever I text, but other than CS, I do it on some of my facebook stats. ^_^

Well, XD means the same as really; look at it on its side and it looks like someone with a big grin. XD o_o 0_0 O_O are all a variety of shocked faces. O_o and o_O are raising an eyebrow. X_x can mean either a "blargh" face or confused. There are more, but those are the ones I use on here the most often.

I usually just use the smileys that are already here. I've seen them used here and there (mostly O_o and XD and ^-^) but I can usually figure out what they mean....though XD took me a bit the first time I saw it.

O.O or O_O is usually my "nooooooo waaaaaay!"

I like to use 8D. It's just so happy!

I'm also fond of U: and V: - those would just be gaping mouths. They're more fun than using O's for the mouth.

I also frequently use c: instead of . I got in the habit of typing faces with the mouth on the left side to avoid emoticons.

My issue with a lot of these emoticons are that since they're less common, everyone attaches their own meanings to them and the nuances of your speech are lost when someone else reads it with a different inflection. I had to have a conversation with a friend because he was misinterpreting some of my statements online due to his own special meanings for some smileys.

Lastly, anyone who uses any kind of cat/kitten smiley on a regular basis (meaning the =3, -=^-^=-, etc types) loses all credibility to me. A smiley is supposed to be used to convey greater expression online by representing an emotion or facial expression. How does a cat face do any of that. It's just being cute to be cute, I hate it, and I think it's dumb.

I don't use the kitty face; I think it's a bit of a waste of time typing it all out.

I use -_- and -.- too which are fairly easy to work out; it's the face you put on when you have an SC in front of you doing or saying something stupid.

I don't use them that much here, as the existing smileys do the job well. I'll use some here and there but not as much as I see in other forums.
