First of all congratulations to both of you.

Now there has been a lot of good advice. I just want to say one very important thing. Don't sweat the small stuff. If something doesn't go according to plan, don't get upset and go all bridezilla on everyone.

If you are planning to have your wedding outside, make sure you have an indoor location reserved in case of rain.

Aggh! Haven't you ever seen Bridezilla? Brides are *not* supposed to plan weddings! It's the bride's mother who is supposed to do it; if the mother isn't available, pick a motherly friend. Then STAY AWAY. Resist all temptation to get involved in the planning, or you are going to jinx it!

Nope, don't watch TV and if I did I can't see myself watching something called Bridezilla. Just personal taste.

Also, I can't imagine allowing someone else to plan MY day. My hubby and I planned our own wedding... been married 9, almost 10 years so I don't buy the jinxing stuff. But then, I'm not superstitious either.

Seems to me like most people have their own ideas about how their wedding should be.

No. If you want something done right, do it yourself, IMHO.
Plus, my mom's in Canada. I'm in South Africa. It's not possible. She already planned her wedding 30+ years ago, why must she plan another one?
