  • Christmas Music-it's TOO early yet!!

I go walking around town, doing some errands, & some shops have Christmas music already playing! It's too early for that stuff yet! Wait till after Thanksgiving before playing that type of music.
I never did get to hear "Monster Mash" for Halloween this year...lol.

I am so, so SO glad I no longer work on checkouts. XD That means I don't have to put up with the horror that is the looped Christmas music any more.

I got home tonight and the neighbors that live behind me have their Christmas tree up = all lit and decorated. I think it's nuts!

Thankfully our store hasn't done it yet. Though we will be this weekend.

But you've already got the holiday stemware, dishes, glasses, candy, and decorations set out. What's one more thing...? >.>

Not only that, we did have for a couple of days a while bunch of xmas stuff that did produce music and they had about 6 of them playing at once. That was pretty annoying. Thankfully the batteries died!

Yay for short battery life! I didn't even SEE anything for Thanksgiving at any of the stores I go to. But there was that one time at Target they had Halloween stuff in one aisle, and Christmas stuff in the next aisle. >.>

Really weird to hear Christmas jingles like Rudolph and Frosty punctuated with cheesy thunderstorm sound effects and creepy laughter...

I saw that too! I was all like . It really lowered my opinion of Target a little.

And who carries Thanksgiving stuff anymore. Don't you know, retail skips that holiday unless they sell turkeys and stuff.

This is true. Or, it's some department store, like Macy's that has their autumnal line of home and table decor, maybe.

Other than that, you're right. Although every store I've been in this week is really pushing the holiday meal deals, you know "Let us cook for your family so you can spend more time watching football" kinda shit. Blech. to me, cooking is part of the fun of the holiday! But I'm odd that way.

Meh, usually by the time I get home from work on Thanksgiving, dinner is already done and they've been waiting for me. So I don't get to enjoy the cooking part of the holiday anymore.

I maybe a petty person for this, but I hate with a passion having a birthday in December! I have had relatives give me a small gift and it was for both my birthday and Christmas. GRRRRR! My dh will do the combined gift only if he got me something really special that is well worth it.

My dh did tell me that he had the combo gift too and his birthday is at the end of January!!

When we first got married, he made it a family tradition to not put the Christmas tree up till after my birthday. Is he sweet or what?

I also hate with a passion when I see Christmas stuff in the stores before Halloween. Can I please be able to go all out and not think of Christmas during my favorite holiday of Halloween?

I hate to death Christmas carols.

You all maybe saying "WOW, Mis! You really hate Christmas!" To a large extent I do. My birthday was always overshadowed by Christmas and I don't have a lot of happy memories of the holiday from my childhood. I do go all out for my cubs though and my daughter just now (she is 14) figured out I am not at all thrilled with Christmas. The boys still haven't figured that out.

My little brother feels your pain; he was born on Boxing Day. XD He's always insisted on having two separate presents, tho.

I don't hate Christmas, but I hate to death all the buildup. It starts way too fucking early, and I get sick of all the SCs that the buildup produces. -.- I also work Christmas Eve every year for extra cash, and this year I'm closing. My collegue Jim, who's also closing, and I have a plan to ensure that we are not stuck at the petrol station all night trying to get rid of customers (we only get paid up til closing time, oh joy!).

On checkouts, we used to have people coming in right up to the last moment with trolleys, sometimes multiple trolleys. It's the pits, when you're stuck on your checkout and want to go home, and there's yet another customer with a piled high trolley coming along. -.- And then they come to your checkout and whinge cuz there's no sprouts left, no packet stuffing, no fresh bread sauce, no decently sized turkeys. Argh. X_x

I thought I had escaped the Christmas music this year. We have no overhead music system and only a radio at the cut counter, which as long as we aren't playing vulgar stuff, we can normally play whatever station we want.

Unfortunately, the MOD insisted we put it on the station that is playing Christmas carols. Fortunately, they had a handful of decent ones (Chuck Berry's Run Run Rudolph and Eurythmics' Winter Wonderland) interspersed with the usual Andy Williams schmaltzy dreck. Still, it's not even Thanksgiving yet! It's like celebrating Halloween in August, or Easter in February. I'm not ready yet!
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Gee, shame you don't play city of heroes on Virtue. The internet radio station for the server played it on at least 3 separate events. That and the Ghostbusters theme, Thriller, etc.

Been there, done that. The other staff made a point of not letting me anywhere near anything that could break the speakers.
