  • In which I dont listen to the warnings...

So, I got a chance to watch some TV yesterday!! Woohooo! A treat for me, I dont get enough time like that actually but anywho.

I get all snuggie into the couch and turn to a channel where theyre showing a Law and Order: SVU marathon as they do sometimes, and I get all excited. I love Law and Order!!

So, my 9 yr old son notices I'm down in the living room and sits next to me with a book he's reading.

The show starts to come on but before it airs theres a "Viewer discretion warning" about how graphic the show is and kids under like 14 shouldnt watch or something similar. And I think to myself..."Thats stupid! Its Law and Order, why the f* do they need a warning?!"

Show comes on, Im watching for maybe a total of 3 minutes when my son pipes up.."Hey mommy..whats rape?"

My own fault for not listening. I had to explain in the nicest way possible, then boot him out of the living room back to the family room where he was.

At least I get the viewer discretion warning now.

Just as a further warning Law and Order SVU has back to back episodes on the weekends on USA channel and quite a lot of reruns there. Their subject matter tends to be less nice than the original series has you now know.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

      I love those marathons!

But yeah. No 9 year old needs to see SVU.

Amina, Amina, Amina...it's Special Victims Unit, and the opening of the show talks about sexually based offenses (yes, I watch it avidly to the point I know EXACTLY what the opening says! )

          Brain burp anyone?

Still, an awesome show, but then I like shows that show the dark side of humanity. I'm strange that way. SVU and Criminal Minds are two of my favoritest shows ever.

Criminal Minds creeps me the fark out. Mr Jedi likes it, but I have to go read in another room when he wants to watch it.

              I KNOW!!!!! Lol

Im guess im used to the days where my kids were blissfully ignorant and unaware of anything going on around them.

He was reading so I guess I was expecting him to NOT pay attention.. Im honestly embarassed by such a stupid mistake on my part. :/

LOL kids pick up the darndest things. A friend of mine loves to watch an old vampire show (Forever Knight, if any of you have heard of it), and her 5-year-old often watches with her. One day, one of the main actors from the vampire show was on another show, and his character was arguing with a woman. The 5-year-old watches for a few minutes, then asks in all seriousness, "Mom, why doesn't he just bite her?"
