  • Gifts- Giving & Getting

I love giving gifts. I enjoy hunting for (or making), something that will make someone happy.

I also hate recieving gifts. On birthdays or other gift-giving occasions, I'd rather be getting a tooth pulled than sitting infront of friends and family opening gifts. I guess it is because I don't like being put on the spot or the center of attention. I have been trying to get the family to let me get out of celebrating my birthday in a huge get together for almost seven years.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Christmas isn't too bad on that level; our family takes turns opening the gifts, youngest first. That way, the "spotlight" is shared.

I just wish I was better at picking gifts for other people. It's so difficult to know what to get others.

I feel the same in some ways. I love giving gifts to people who will appreciate them. I hate it when I give a gift to someone who obviously doesn't like it, or who holds the gift casually in one hand after opening it (I feel that this means the person doesn't take the gift seriously).

I LOVE receiving gifts, but I don't like everyone watching while I open them. I used to - at my birthday - but not now, unless it's Christmas and we're all taking turns.

I LOVE when I find the perfect gift for people....though this year I bought part of my bf's gift right in front of him (small hydration pack....he picked it out)

I hate opening gifts in front of people, esp if it somthing you hate (me=Yankee candles....they make me ill, yet I get them every year) I'm grateful for the thought, but trying to look happy when I get an instant headache, hahahhaha
