  • Anybody have a spork I can borrow?

Because I want to use it to dig out my tonsils. >.<

I have been coughing nearly nonstop since Wednesday. Friday I called out of my sub job to go see the doctor since I couldn't speak above a whisper. I called out of my retail work today because I was barely any better. I'm still coughing, I'm on all kinds of medicines for coughs, flus, what have you, I feel completely disconnected from my body, and I may call out of retail work again tomorrow just because I can still barely talk.

    This stinks >.<

      Hie thee to yon doctor.

Seriously, see a medico asap. That sounds like more than just a sore throat.

Suggested remedies to get you through for the moment: hot tea with honey and lemon. I hate tea, but this is very soothing. Avoid all acidic drinks, like citrus juices. Also find a good cough drop. I prefer Hall's, as they are not overly mediciney, especially the honey lemon flavor.

But the bottom line is that you need to see your friendly neighborhood sawbones.

Yeah...I went to the doctor's on Friday. And I'm on generic Z-Pac and some sort of cough medicine that's throwing me back to bed every couple of hours. So I've been asleep the better part of these past 72 hours.

Plus side to all of this: After this last round of waking up, I no longer sound like an 80 year old chain smoker!

Down side: That's three days I've called out of my various jobs and I have to pay Mom back for the medicinals and such.

When I worked in the bookstore, and I had a sore throat, I would get vanilla tea from the cafe, with 5-6 sugars-in-the-raw and a generous splash of milk. It was like drinking liquid cough drops (and it was decaf so I could drink it any time). Sadly, they don't seem to carry that flavor anymore.

I hear you on the sore throat, though. A few years ago I had tonsillitis so bad that eating ice cream made me want to cry, it hurt that much. I would have missed a couple days of work, but I only missed one because I happened to be off the second day anyway.
