  • I'm Feeling Crafty

I just took up quilling. Basically it is rolling strips of paper into various shapes and creating a design with them. It is really easy, but time consuming if you don't have a paper cutter. So far I have made a few snowflake ornaments I'm going to give as gifts.

I can crochet, cross stitch/blackwork, paint, sculpt using clay, paint ceramics, fold basic origami, make jewelery, bead, draw, sew, carve wood, make candy, and have tried my hand at glass etching and painting. I want to learn how to knit and make candles & soap.

What kind of crafts do you make? What do you want to learn how to make?

i'm a knitter and a crocheter. if you want to learn to knit, there's a fantastic book called "stitch and bitch" it has easy to read diagrams and instructions for basic stitches and patterns. i re-learned to knit using it, and learned to crochet using a book by the same people called "happy hooker." they have a bunch of good books for such things.

I love to knit, and sometimes I crochet. Stitch and Bitch is a good book, but if you want free online instructions, knittinghelp.com has some wonderful videos. I personally like videos better than pictures, but that's just me. Youtube is also a good place to pick up any crafty skills!

When I lived with an old roommate, she taught me how to make soap and candles. It was fun, but suprisingly expensive. I never realized wax & all of that cost so much. It's also super messy, which was ok since she owned her house and had hardwood floors, but I don't think my landlord would appreciate wax all over my carpet.

I crochet, sew, draw, take ribbon and pins and create things out of them, embelish, tat, make bobbin lace and am learning chain maile. I love learning new hobbies.

The one new thing I want to learn is wireworking, for jewelry. I know how to sew, but hate doing it; it's only for repairs that I use my machine. I have made costumes.

I can crochet also, but haven't the patience nor good hand nerves to do anything. (I think I may have carpal tunnel). I can deal with that; it's a stick and string. But I can't knit; add another stick and it's over.

I do make lip balm and hand cream from time to time and get requests for stuff.
