  • Buying a new car today!

Fingers cross for me so the financing will go through!!!

    OMG SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!

I have never had a new car before and never thought I would ever get one, but with the deals out right now it would be the same price (car payment wise) to buy new as it would be to buy used.
We are getting all kinds of rebates and credits and they are wiping this fee and that fee....

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited... can you tell?

Yeah, what kind of car are you getting? We want to know!

I myself have never had a brand new car, but I have to be honest, I still love my new Blazer. By new I mean new to me...and I got it four years ago....and it's a 2000.

Its a Hyundai Elantra (in indigo blue)

The final choices were between the Hyundai, a Chevy cobalt and a kia forte. I hated the interiour of the cobalt and so that was out of the race.

The kia salespeople were hardcore pressure salesmen and double tag teamed us, they wanted us to buy the car before we had even test drived it, they totally turned me of.

As long as the finacing is approved by the bank today, we should get the car this week!!

this is what my baby will look like YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

fingers crossed that mr bankman says yes!

ETA woops thats what I get for trusting google!

My friends had a Cobalt. They look great. And that is about as much good as I can say about them.

I had an Elantra for a week when I went to see The Price Is Right. It was allright, But being 6ft 4 in a compact car was a bit stuff.

I know. I said what I did about the Cobalt to say you made a good choice. Or at least, avoided making a bad one.

Take a close look at the grille - there's a Hyundai logo in the middle.

Another Elantra owner here. Don't know if the newer ones have the same issue, but within my circle of friends there are about half a dozen older (pre-2000) Hyundais, (some currently owned, some long since traded in or scrapped), and on all of them the rear jack points rusted out from the inside - looked fine, but try to change a tire and (if you're lucky) it starts to bend under the weight (or if unlucky, the jack goes right through).

I have an '02 Elantra (bought new after my Prizm was killed)...I might get another one in the nearish future (maybe next year). Don't know if I'll go with Elantra again but my dad says the new models are a much better car than mine, and I haven't had any huge problems. My last repair bill was $1100, though, to fix an exhaust leak.

Mine is dark gray, but in the sunlight it looks like sparkly purple . I wanted blue, but I didn't like the blue they had at the time I bought it, so.... Next time hopefully I'll get my blue car.

I guess I'm in the minority, though...I hate new car smell....

I'm a bit biased against Hyundai. Why? Well, after sitting in a brand-new 2000 Elantra...and having the driver's seat *collapse* under my weight... kinda turned me off towards them

BTW, Kia was owned by Hyundai...who bought 51% of the bankrupt Kia in 1998. Hyundai's share is down to 40% or so now.
