Hey NEers, have you guys/gals seen these commercials?


I love them, basic idea is that two people are about to enjoy a Newman's New England Coffee from McDonalds, but first one must prove his/her New Englandness.

(ie: Question "Where do tourist freeze up" Answer "a rotary" or Q" What's a turn signal? A "A sign of weakness" or Q "What do they ask for at a packie?" A "An ID"

(basically they are supposed to be based on NE slang, I didn't get all of them, like the cabinet in Rhode Island)

I dunno, it might be because I'm a bit out of it know, but these commercials tickly my funny bone. They do fail, since they do not make me want to go to McD to get coffee

I like the ads also, but I'll take my Newman's K-cup coffee thank you. No idea what would make a McD's blend "exclusive", and I'm not sure I want to know. Could be just another marketing trick.

In RI, a "cabinet" is a milkshake with ice cream. If you ask for a "milkshake", that's just milk and flavoring.

As for where the term came from I have no idea.

Oh yeah, I looked it up afterward I'll try one of those "cabinets" next time I'm in RI....I do need to get some Autocrat to make coffee milk!

Newman's Own? I like their dressings, if it's the same company I'm thinking of, but I didnt' know they made coffee. Think I've seen their chocolate at Whole Foods, too...

YES!!! I just finished a bowl of cucumbers and that dressing. That dressing is addicting.
