Today I had to go to the dentist because I need a crown on a tooth that had a cracked filling. While he was checking things out, he noticed a cavity on another tooth, which was not there last time I saw him.
So he gave me a shot of Novacaine, and left me to get numbed up. Then he came in and started drilling for the crown...and OW!
So he gave me another shot and left me a little longer. Then he did the other tooth first, because that was smaller, and I could still feel it. He gave me a third shot before starting on the crown tooth again. Three shots!!!
Usually I don't have that much of a problem. If I could still feel it after the third try he was going to just bond the tooth and have me come back another day. Which I really didn't want to do so luckily I was able to get through it.
So he did the temporary crown and impressions for the permanent one, and I left. Did a few things and headed to work for the afternoon. And the Novacaine started to wear off. Now my jaw is all sore from the three puncture wounds. Stopped on my way to work to pick up some stuff I could eat (ravioli, yogurt, apple sauce). Got a drink on my way in, took some ibuprofin, and ate the yogurt...which was fun since by then I could barely open my mouth to get the spoon in (extra challenge: they've been giving us soup spoons in the kitchen lately).
Now my tooth feels all weird. It feels like everything lines up normally when I bite down, but I feel like the temp crown is slightly high on the side. I hope this is only because it's a temp and the permanent one will be better (or at least easy to fix if it's not). Everything seemed fine when I left, but then again, I couldn't actually feel anything on that side of my jaw, so....
I stopped at B&N to kill time and get a hot chocolate - had to order a kid's hot chocolate because I was afraid I'd burn myself (they make the kid's HC about 20 degrees cooler than regular).
Now, what can I have for dinner that doesn't require chewing...?
