I don't like romance fiction or click flicks -- I'll watch/read one or two every few years but if the "love story" isn't included in the action/adventure/sci-fi/etc story, then I'm most likely not interested. I prefer Wheel of Time over Nora Roberts any day. And I'm female.

I've got the "I've never had sex" beat: I'm twenty-six and haven't had sex yet. O.O
Another female fantasy reader here (although I also adore 19th c. British Lit. I can see an argument for Austen's books being basically romance novels, but they are so much better written. Plus, Austen isn't the only author from that time period that I love). The Wheel of Time series rocks! Have you read The Gathering Storm, yet? Brandon Sanderson did an excellent job IMHO. Have you read the Song of Ice and Fire books? They are also terrific. The Darkover novels are also wonderful.

A friend of mine didn't lose her virginity until her wedding night, she was just a few weeks shy of turning 30. When she and her hubby (who himself had very little "experience") got back from their honeymoon she confessed to me that after waiting all those years, she'd been rather disappointed and didn't see what all the fuss is about. Less than a year later she had a really bad car wreck which left her inable to engage in certain marital activities. It's been 4 years since then and neither her nor her husband seem to be in any hurry still for her to have the surgery that will correct the issue. I'd say that that there is an argument for getting some practice in before settling down!

What's funny is that I only barely understood most of those.

I don't know if that is a sign of my age or just the fact that I am not into a lot of shit that seems to be popular right now. Go figger.

There are many naive people out there that when they find out I am in culinary school, they ask who I like better: Paula Deen or Rachael Ray and seem offended when I say can't stand either of them. They aren't that bad as a whole, but most of their recipes come from "The Joy of Cooking" and Better Homes & Gardens Cookbooks, and then touted as their own because they changed something, even if just one thing. Both are actually mocked at school because they claim to be something that they really aren't and even teach people some bad habits.

Well before I got into school, or even thought about going to school, my knowledge of true successful chefs was of Thomas Keller, Grant Achatz, Gordon Ramsay, Charlie Trotter, Tim McKee, Josh Thoma, etc. I knew of these guys before most of America did.

I'm reading his first book, Elantris. Or rather, going to start it on my flight home tomorrow morning. I've heard good things about him, so we shall see.

I've never had a hangover. (yes I drink)
Never cheated on a girlfriend (or my wife)
Never had an STD (yes I've had sex a bit)
              Never tried cocaine, heroin etc.
Never had a broken bone (I teach Martial Arts and have done stunt work)

This is all I can think of so far.

I want to, but don't know how much the hardback is -- may wait for the paperback if it isn't out already, only because the rest of the series I have is in paperback. Can't say that I've heard of the Song of Ice and Fire or the Darkover series, will look into it though.

I make most of my own necklaces and bracelets, a lot of people are surprised I make them. Can and have spent hours making new jewelry to wear or to give people.

Used to enjoy doing things during late afternoon/early evening, then started working early in the morning and going to college for a few years. Now I can't stand shopping or going out to the movies past five in the evening.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

It was *just* release w/in the last month in hardback, so it'll be a while yet before it comes out in paperpback. Both hubby and I read this series and he *only* like hardbacks (me, I'd rather have paperbacks most of the time as I tend to carry books with me everywhere)..

Song of Ice and Fire is by George R. R. Martin. The first book is called A Game of Thrones.

The Darkover series is by Marian Zimmer Bradley. Most of the books can be read in any order as they are stand-alone novels set on the same planet. There are a TON of them. I hope to manage to read them all in my lifetime.

Just to make finding them easier.

                      I've never had sex.

Just because I'm interested in someone doesn't mean I automatically want them to jump my bones.

The only drugs I've tried are Ecstasy and Weed. It's shocking out here because most everyone is addicted to speed or coke.

I've never been out of the West Coast and even then only California, Hawaii, Arizona (Bullhead City only) and Nevada (Vegas, Laughlin).

And I've never been rude to ANY authority figure. Doesn't make me 'nice' but it makes me respectful to those who are higher up than I am.
People are dunderheaded fools. I weep that Darwin's Natural Selection is frowned upon.

My mum lives about 75 miles away from Niagara Falls, and I promised a friend of mine a quick trip to visit the falls sometime in January ... She and I wouldn't mind company if you are up for a roadtrip [unless you would prefer it sometime when it is a bit warmer like April ... ] and if you notice, I also live in Connecticut

I'll second Darkover. MZB was also very fanfic friendly and even had a couple books of oldschool fanfic published...some of which is very good!

                            I've never smoked.

I've never done any illegal drugs. Knowing some of the friends that I grew up with, that's an accomplishment.

I've never cheated on a girl.

I've never 'hooked up'. I've only had sex with women that I've been in a relationship with, not with someone I've just met at a bar or something.

Being a movie nerd, some people find it shocking that I've never seen quite a few 'must see' movies:

                            - the Godfather series
                            - Scarface (the Pacino one)
                            - Shawshank Redemption
                            - Schindler's List
                            - the three new Star Wars movies (it's like 'Highlander'... there's NOTHING after the first three came out, damn it!!!)
                            - the Matrix series
                            - 2001 (just bought it, haven't watched it yet)
                            - A Clockwork Orange
                            - The Wrestler (being a big wrestling fan, this is odd to others)
                            - etc...

Thing is, I usually go out of my way to avoid huge movies that everyone else sees because they end up telling me everything about it anyways. I like to find smaller independent movies. It's because, when I worked at the video store years ago, people would ask me if the movies that they never heard of were any good... so I started watching the stuff no one would and recommending the good ones (remember "Manhunter" with William "SCI" Petersen? One of my first indie movies!)

In my world the prequels never happened. I refuse the admit they exist!

                              - the Matrix series
Only the first one is good, the sequels are crap.

                              - 2001 (just bought it, haven't watched it yet)
I found it quite boring, and pointless.

                              - A Clockwork Orange
                              Haven't seen it yet
                              - The Wrestler (being a big wrestling fan, this is odd to others)
                              And not that one either.

Guess we both need to catch up on "must see movies". lol

I keep strange hours so most people are shocked when I tell them I do NOT drink coffee.
I will not/cannot drink most energy drinks.
I've never smoked(or thought of smoking) a cigarette, never done any illegal drugs...or very many legal ones when I wasn't crippled in pain, and I really hate drinking alcohol... which always surprises people when you see who I hang out with.

I was in the punk/goth clique in H.S. Yet I have never seen Fight Club, never read Clockwork Orange, Never made it all the way through Fear and Loathing in LasVegas in one setting...or the Big Labowski(though I own it). Until two years ago I had never even HEARD of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

and the one that I am most proud of... I have a mouth like a sailor most of the time, but I have never.. and hopefully will never, cussed in front of my Grandparents.
