  • My clothes are locked up.

The laundry room at my apartment complex is supposed to be available 24 hours.

I come home from work last night about 12:30 am after a long and busy day. I have no clean work clothes and no towels. I don't want to get up early to wash so I figure I would do two loads after work since it takes me a couple of hours to go to sleep once I get home from work. When I go to put my stuff in the wash a man is there putting his clothes in the dryer. When I come back to put my stuff in the dryers he is still there reading a book. I wonder why he is waiting for his laundry in that small room. Well now I wish I would have done the same.

I go back almost an hour later to get my clothes so I can go to bed as now I am feeling tired. I go to unlock that door and it will not open. I try again and I realize the deadbolt is locked (this can only be done my management) and I can't get to my stuff

I think that maybe the security patrol that drives around once every 5 hours locked it. Because management does not live on site and the patrol is able unlock our closed pool area to use the restroom. So I think the complex decided to lock the laundry room at a certain time and not tell us.

And it is still locked right now and I need my clothes for work not to mention a clean towel to take a shower. It is almost 8am and with only 6 washers here and Sunday being a busy day for laundry I can't believe that door is still locked

When I leave for work I don't want to leave my clothes in there cause I am sure somebody will take them out and throw them to the side

Call the property manager and tell them what happened.

Definitely call whoever's in charge of property management and at least tell them about it. Also, does property management have some kind of emergency maintenance number? I would think they would, every apartment I've ever heard of has, but you never know. If you do, I would have called them when you realized the door was locked in the middle of the night. I'd say having all your clothes locked in the supposedly never locked laundry room constitutes an emergency.
