You really want your mind blown? Do a poll of "old men's dress shirt" vs. pjs. And the shirt long enough to come to about halfway down the legs, so that it pretty much qualifies as a skirt. I bet most guys pick the shirt. Heck, flannel works too, doesn't even need to be a dress shirt.

The PJs will hide a lot of flaws and still look sexy. That lingerie needs the perfect figure.Quoth aj_prettiful View PostMy friend said that guys would prefer pjs over over the top lingerie, so I was seeing if he was right.

Not a man either but I'd choose the first one as well.
The outfit is cute and relaxed- the girl wearing it would probably be more interested in down to earth stuff and be more fun.
Outfit #2 makes the model look like a Ho... Ho, Ho- Merry Christmas!
She would probably expect you to be rich and as 'perfect' as she is.
Reminds me of the older movie Housesitter with steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. The scene where he tells her she can stay but she has to stop dressing sexy. So, she holds up some slinky thing and says, "like this?" he tells her no, grabs a giant, old sweater and says, "like this! you look way too sexy in this!""I don't want any part of your crazy cult! I'm already a member of the public library and that's good enough for me, thanks!"

Yes, but what if you had the perfect figure wearing either? That was your choice? Even the perfect figure, I think, would look awesome in the pj's.Quoth csquared View PostThe PJs will hide a lot of flaws and still look sexy. That lingerie needs the perfect figure.
That is merely supposition. What if the poll was about the same woman wearing either outfit? And yes, I know several women that would wear either.Quoth NightAngel View PostThe outfit is cute and relaxed- the girl wearing it would probably be more interested in down to earth stuff and be more fun.

Just saying that we should probably be judging the outfits on what we think of the OUTFITS, not what we think the person wearing them would be like, since a lot of people could and would wear both.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to exclude with the question. I was talking with my friend about how men would always chose pjs over lingerie. We didn't discuss lesbians. But now I am curious about that.Quoth Sliceanddice View Postthis title is mean!!
i am a woman!!
i like women!!
what about us lesbians!
oh and number one, shes cute 2 looks slutty.

Yes, but Jester, a lot can be told about a person by what they chose to wear, and your perception of what a person is like based on what they're wearing IS likely to impact your decision of weather or not to approach them. I know if I saw a girl wearing the second, I would think 'Trying too hard, honey, I don't want to try to keep up with you.' And anyway, cute is ALWAYS preferable to sexy. Every. Single. Time. *giggle* Yeah. It's a fairly old movie trope. And for a reason. It works on guys.Quoth NightAngel View Posthe tells her no, grabs a giant, old sweater and says, "like this! you look way too sexy in this!"
And this thread really is proving that men are just weird. Pretty much everyone's picked the pjs, and when I mentioned the dress shirt instead of jammies, that was picked too. So if guys like just any old dress shirt on a woman, why's there such a huge market for lingerie?

Overanalyzing everyone's answers makes the thread feel no fun anymore. But, okay, I'll play.
If it was going to be truly fair the outfits would have not been on anyone- manniquens maybe. Each model is conveying an attitude that, whether you mean for it to or not, effects you and how you feel about the outfit itself. That's one of the reasons they use models instead of mannequins.
In all actuality model #2 is selling more to women than men. Thanks to media and advertising most women want to look like model #2- many feel they should look that way and go to great lengths in attempt to do so. "If I buy 'product x' I'll be just like her." Personally, I would rather support the company that put out the first outfit because the model is not the pinnacle of perfection. I would love for advertising/media to show all the many different types of women as sexy.
I can tell you that my hubby and I both agree on outfit #1 hands down even if it was just laying on a table somewhere. Because it's cute, fun and practical. It's also exactly the type of thing that drives him crazy when I wear it.
(And, yes, I do have similar outfits and pajamas.)

Yes, but there are people who would and could wear either or both of those. A lot of people can wear a lot of different looks, and what you THINK you can tell by them based upon the outfit they are wearing is not always accurate.Quoth Shards View PostYes, but Jester, a lot can be told about a person by what they chose to wear...

But there are a lot of people out there, and a lot of opinions, and a lot of different books. I know tons of guys that would much rather open the bedroom door to Miss Santa than to Miss Cookies.
Different strokes for different perverts, ya know.

(A) Guys like lingerie too. It's not always an either/or choice, ya know. And there is something to be said for variety.
(B) A lot of women think that guys want them in lingerie.
(C) A lot of women just like to wear lingerie, regardless of what guys think.
If it was going to be a truly fair comparison, you would use the same model with each outfit, so that the difference truly is the outfit, and not the model. And yes, the very same model might well convey different attitudes with the different outfits. Women are not, for the most part, single-dimensional, and most of them have several faces and attitudes they can show.Quoth NightAngel View PostIf it was going to be truly fair the outfits would have not been on anyone- manniquens maybe. I'm not a guy, but I think there are standards for appropriate pajama attire, if you will.
The first girl's pajamas are appropriate for anytime.
The second girl.....are you really going to go to bed alone wearing that? I'll admit that I DO have some lingerie like that but it's only for special nights with my boyfriend. But it doesn't even stay on long enough to enjoy it, and the one night he saw my Spongebob pajama set, he said they were cute. You really need to see a neurologist. - Wagegoth
