Good to know its effective, Jester.

and I love kitchen appliances too. I think I'm happier with a new knife or kitchen gadget than I would be with diamonds.

I love, love, love having our knives on a magnetic strip. Not only do they look pretty, but very handy to grab. Make sure you try a knife/cleaver in the hand before you buy it. The best knife is always one that you feel comfortable using. No point spending big bucks if you don't like the way the steel feels in your hand, cause you'd end up never using it and as much fun as pretty knives are to look at, they're made to be used.

Right now my counter tops are tile but I would LOVE for them to be steel. More "commercial" grade than what you get with Granite (which is bad at hiding pepper grinds, really sucks when you're making sugar cookies and you get pepper in the dough!!)
You know, wiping down your counters before beginning such a project would be a good idea..... *ducks*

I like appliances but suffer from an extreme lack of space. So I just give the food processors a forlorn glance....
Me too. Roomie and I were commenting on how nice it would be to have a crock pot...but we have no place to put one.

Amen. I got the Chef Cutlery brand knives that the school gave me. Well, I only have my slicer and 8 inch chef knife with me and they're rather heavy. The Shun knives are fairly light in comparison.

I almost bought the Shun chefs knife years ago, but alas, I was broke...even with my student discount.
