  • Sick Puppy

Would everyone mind too much sending some good thoughts to my little 3 month old border collie pup? He's been sick the past couple of days and I'm worried about him. (The vet is very much in the loop, but we're in a 'wait and see' stage of things.)

It'd mean a lot to me. Funny how quickly you can fall in love with these little guys.

    Thanks, CS.

What do you mean by sick? (No eating, diarreah (sp?), discolored gums, no energy...)?

            Update!

OK, so he wound up showing all the initial symptoms of Parvo, which really had me and my roommate scared. We took him to the vet and his parvo test came back negative, so we started treating him for the symptoms.

Meanwhile, I kept researching the symptoms and what could have caused them. I started to suspect that it might have been a sensitivity to wheat products. So I checked all his food and treats for ingredients, and lo & behold, one of his treats contained quite a bit of wheat!

We eliminated that one from his diet, and I stayed up all night with him to make sure that he stayed nice and hydrated, and you could just see the improvement hour by hour

Today he's his normal devilish self, driving me bonkers by chewing everything in sight!

Thanks for the good vibes, CS

That's good to hear - now you'll need to pay attention to labels.

                    Update again

OK, so he's got diarrhea again. I'm hoping this is a bit more of a normal puppy diarrhea though. *le sigh*

He is doing better... this was just coincidental "puppy got too excited" poo.

Spotting looks like a Lancier Newfie - I don't think I've seen that pattern in a border collie before.

Edit: But he could change a little. I'm just used to seeing more black on them.
