  • I'm slightly pleased with myself today!

I've been a member of a slimming club for a while but have been losing weight very slowly. Then, after a few tests & discussions with my doc, its suspected I my have a gluten allergy/intolerance, so I cut that out from my diet, found symptoms I didn't know I had disappearing & the weight started moving a tiny bit faster

After a few months I decided I needed to know one way or the other about the intolerance so opted for a challenge test, which meant eating gluten again for a few weeks before I went for blood tests. And the weight jumped on... 13 pounds in 5 weeks

So anyway, last Wednesday I went off to have the blood test before I called into the slimming group & then got back to cutting out the gluten again and today when I got on the scales...

    I was 7 pounds lighter
Bet I can't do that again!

Sorry for waffling at you all but I'm a bit chuffed
    Arp happens!

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

I don't know what "chuffed" means, but I'm happy you figured it out. Hey, so if I eat wheat meat (gluten meat sub) and have no problems, but wheat four products bloat me out, what's my deal? Is it possible to have a sensitivity to the starch rather than gluten? And for you, may want to be checked for dairy allergy, since they seem to go hand-in-hand.

Congrats! I have the same issue but with milk/ dairy.

@foodlady I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Like with Milk the difference with an allergy or intolerance. Being allergic to the protein rather than having a sensitivity to the lactose.

I've heard people here use that word to mean "threw up," but I doubt that's what the OP means.

I don't know what "chuffed" means,
I believe in this case it means "happy," or "proud," but I thought I'd usually heard it to mean "annoyed" before.

My Mum says the wheat free diet is the best for losing weight! She completely intolerant to wheat (suddenly at 50-odd) and can't eat it at all which is fun when it comes to taking her out to dinner. She's lost the best part of a couple of stone since she went wheat free and the doctor keeps telling her not to lose any more.

Honestly, that's beyond my scope, maybe some form of allergy test might be an idea?

I've had someone else mention dairy allergy to me before but I seem OK on that.... but then again I can remember some of the symptoms I didn't know I had being around a couple of decades ago.

Up until now they were thought to be either linked to another condition I have, the meds for that condition or one of those things.

I've not got too frustrated with the eating out thing yet as I don't do it very often but one thing I have noticed is that the items that can be eaten mostly seem to be the most expensive things on the menu unless you go for plain salad! I suppose that's the case no matter what special diet you need to follow though

I've had this test to find out of its the full blown gluten thing or not. Hopefully get the results soon
