Pretty sure the multiplex in WEM still does,
They've got the area set up, but I've never seen it open.

3-D; I can take it or leave it. They should at least give you the option; have two showings for with and without.
The cinema I work at does that. We only have one digital screen, so generally there is at least one 2d screens and 1 3d one (with avatar we had 3 2d prints).

This is precisely the reason I'm so ticked that James Cameron is going to walk away with an Oscar. Again. Craptastic, overused plot but ooooooh it's pretty.

actually he's planning an "avatar trilogy"-wonder what he'll rip off next.....other than the moviegoing public.......

Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

They could always try selling alcohol in cinemas instead.
The cinema near home, and quite a few others, do this. Basically it's in an area called Gold Class, the tickets are about $30 a pop (but you get very comfy armchairs and you can buy meals to eat during the film) and that is the only location you can do it in. Some theatres will allow someone under 18 in provided they're accompanied by an adult, but the theatre near mine is strictly 18 or older.

No, see he got the idea 30 years ago but had to wait for the technology to catch up with his vision. So, in essence, every Sci-Fi movie in the last 30 years has ripped HIM off (and, from what I've read of the plot, Ferngully).

None of the cinemas where I am sell alcohol. Just an American thing? And I've never seen teenagers working in the cinema; they're all 18 at least.

I'll tell you why it's like this. The 3-D glasses they use in theatres aren't like the 3-D glasses they use at home. They won't even work on current TVs, far as I know. This means that if you want the "3-D experience" you need to see it in theatres. It's a direct stab at trying to get people back in to theatres instead of using Netflix or downloading it. They're trying to provide something that you can't get anywhere else, since apparently the big screen isn't enough anymore (and with a lot of people having 40" and up TVs, they're right).
But you know what else I don't get at home:
                1. The jackass in front of me constantly bringing out his cellphone to look at whatever.
                2. The jackass two rows back laughing at every inane joke and telling his buddy about the inane joke.
                3. The jackass two seats over talking troughout the entire movie.
                4. The crowds
                5. Missing a part of a long movie because I had to go visit the can.

No shit. That's why I said they're trying to get people back in with something they can't get at home. They're hoping to offset the negatives.

The arts cinema in Cambridge has a bar, I can also think of a few in London that have bars, and I know at least one cinema in the chain I work for has a bar.

Cinema staff have to be able to enter a screen where an 18 film is playing. When age discrimination legislation came into force a few years ago, there was some discussion about allowing 16 and 17 year olds to work at the cinema, with the proviso that they did no more than glance at the film if they needed to enter a screen, but nothing ever came of it.

See, this is why, if I'm the only one watching a movie, I'd rather see it on my laptop. I can lie in bed with the computer on my belly and a happy feline on either side, and get the effect of a big screen because it's so close to my face. Plus the usual advantages of being at home.
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.
