  • Maybe I need some cheese with my whine

Went to my pulmonary doc today. I have been having asthmatic-like symptoms and was given a breathing test. Turns out I'm definitely asthmatic. Not over the top asthmatic, but it registered on the test.

I also have to get a chest x-ray to be on the safe side. Plus, I've been commanded by my doc to get both a regular flu & the H1N1 shots. (I don't like needles - shudder).

I also have a sleep study scheduled for tomorrow night. (I have sleep apnea, but my husband has found me not breathing while using my CPAP Machine - not a good thing). The sleep study is from 8:30 PM Wednesday until 5/5:30 AM the next morning. Then I get to go back to see my pulmonary doc at 12:15 PM on Thursday.

    Woohoo! Yes?

When I told Mr. Rum about the sleep study he was all: "AARRGGHH! Child Rum is so hard to put down to sleep when you're not there."

Why is he thinking about that? Why can't he be worried that I'm asthmatic? I have to have another sleep study because my apnea might have gotten worse?

    Harumph.

*hands Rummy some cheese while smacking Mr. Rum upside the head*

Guys aren't very good at handling problems they can't fix (like your health issues), so they focus on other problems (like putting Child Rum to sleep) and say stupid things. It doesn't mean it doesn't hurt you, though. Yuck.

I am sorry Mr Rum is being annoying. Here use the "Stupid Stick"

Also a trick for needles that a wonderful lovely nurse told him when I got my H1N1 shot. I tend to stop breathing around needles. So told me to grab my ear lob in the other hand from where you are getting your shot. Just before she poked me she said starting pinching has hard as you can. I barely felt the shot and actually didn't stop breathing. I almost hugged her. It distracts your brain from the shot. I will be doing it every time a needle comes near me now.

Hope everything goes well and they find out what is wrong and fix it.

      *hugs*

Thank you! *noms on cheese and takes stupid stick just in case Mr. Rum needs it when he gets home*

I've been through the sleep study one time before - that's how I know I have sleep apnea. My apnea might have gotten worse or my machine just needs to emit a stronger dose of air for me.

I'm going to try to put Child Rum to bed before I have to leave for the sleep study. That might help. Plus, I'll be getting home before she wakes up. So she'll never know I'm not home.

        *keeps fingers crossed*

Wanna borrow my cattle prod too?

I bet he was just blabbing the first thing that ran through his head. He musta forgotten the brain to mouth filter AGAIN.

I like the ear squeeze jobby - makes sense!

I'm seriously beginning to think he has no brain to mouth filter. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Child Rum is overly tired & declared she doesn't have to go to bed.

I really hope she doesn't pull this tomorrow night.

I just know there is going to be World War III in my house. I wish my parents would take her for the night. If she doesn't listen to MommaRum (aka me), she listens to her NanaRum & her PapaRum (aka my parents).

At least I'll be sleeping in a bed all by myself with no husband, no child, and no cats! Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Why are you still with that no good loser emotionally abusive bum?

I wonder the same thing every time I read your posts about him. Granted, I know we're only seeing the bad side, but he deserves a good hard kick in a lot of different places.

He's not entirely worthless. He may be a failure as a husband and a father, but he works and provides enough money that Rum can care for her child.

If it was not for that, I'd be saying kick him to the curb, too.

But he's not violent, and he's providing at least ONE thing his family needs. And that's money.

Sorry if that sounds entirely mercenary. I guess it IS entirely mercenary, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I'd probably be doing the same thing if I were in her shoes.

Money isn't worth the emotional abuse and constant chipping away at Rum's self esteem.

How many posts have we read where he man has come off as a total boor?

I would say almost 90% of Rum's posts involve some type of vent about her husband, and how atrociously he has behaved.

Based on all of Rum's posts about him, he comes off as self centred. thoughtless, inconsiderate and really not a very nice person at all.

I get so mad when I read the latest recap of something that he's done that is just so oblivious and neglectful to Rum and their child.

When you live with someone with a disability or illness, it can be obvious to you long before it is to the person who has the issue.

My wife was in tears when she was officially designated as "handicapped". She had the hip issues her entire life so I knew long before that. She got upset at me because I didn't get upset over it.

I just told her nothing about her has changed but now she gets that nice dangler that lets her park in the front spaces or spaces a lot close to the entrances to parks (and even free in a lot of places that charge), she can start looking into disability, try.

The sad thing is that we don't realize that you don't realize it.

Oh, Ree, I totally agree with you. His behavior is unforgiveable. But what is she to do? She has a special needs child that needs pretty much constant attention. Who is going to support her if she leaves him?

I just don't know what other alternatives she has for support.

At least she can stay with her kid full time. If she had to go to work a full time job, her kid would suffer.

                          Thank you Ree & RK.

Yes, I know Mr. Rum is a bum and is emotionally abusive.

I have absolutely no support from my family if I were to leave Mr. Rum. My mother has basically told me that since Mr. Rum goes to work, comes directly home (when he's now not going to the gym), not physically abusive, doesn't cheat on me, and works a steady job and makes good money, I have no reason to complain about him. He lets me stay at home with my daughter and that's why I should stay with him indefinitely. (My sister wants to stay @ home with her daughter, but can't 'cos there is no extra money for her to do so).

I do have some friends who have moved to Charlottesville who have said that if I need to go away for a few days, I can come visit them. I might just take them up on the offer.

Otherwise, I have no place to go.

                          And sometimes, he is good.

Every morning, he opens a bottle of water, takes a sip to take his own vitamin, and then adds vitamin powder to the rest of the bottle and leaves it in the fridge for me to drink in the morinng. And he does make breakfast on weekends (even though I have to help him with practically everytihng).

Sometimes he's nice. But more than often, he's a butthead. But then again, his entire family is the same way, so I don't think he knows how to be any different.

Hey Rum I have sleep apnea too and it's possible you need to have your pressure adjusted higher. Where is it now? Mine is at 16 which 1 short of the max. I'm amazed you can stop breathing with the air being pushed down your throat like that.

                              Wow telecom!

                              I'm somewhere between 9 and 11.

I was surprised I could stop breathing while on the machine too. But both of my doctors (GP and pulmonary) think it's because of my chest troubles.

Tonight is the night for the study. I have to pack my pjs up and a book for me to read. Yay!

ETA: With the freezin stuff coming, I called the sleep study center, just to make sure it's still scheduled, and it is.
