  • i may be crazy

ok so i usually have problems with gas. i have a bad diet and once and a while get gas pains.

tonite as i left work and got in my car i started having SHARP pain throughout my lower abdomen and lower back. by the time i got home it had subsided. and i got that gassy bubbly feeling afterwords

about an hour or so passes, i sit back down on the couch, well plopped really, and had a huge sharp pain go right through my stomach. different area. gone now, but i still feel uncomfortable, and am now getting the gassy bubbly feeling again

wtf. cant i have a day where i feel good?

I get those too. If I lay down it feels a lot beeter pretty fast.

It also feels better if I fart. :-)

I'm no doctor, and I don't mean to scare you, but...when I was having gall bladder attacks, it felt almost exactly like gas pains to me. I thought that's what it was at first, except they didn't subside. Turns out I had really, really bad gall stones and ended up having my gall bladder out. You might want to ask your dr. about it next time you have an appointment.

When you say gas pains, do you mean really bad bloat and upset tummy and having to hold in farts because of work (or whatever in public)?

I'd see a doctor for sure, but if it turns out to be nothing but a bad diet, try Activia yogurt and eating more fiber and drinking more water/Gatorade/juice and less soda or coffee.

Activia really really works. I am a lot less gassy and bloated than I used to be.

I don't like yogurt, either. But increasing fiber in general might help.

Hon, if holding in farts is causing you pain then let 'em rip. Everybody has gas.

Do you drink diet soda or other artificially sweetened stuff? Sometimes the sweeteners can cause tummy troubles. I used to drink Diet Coke almost every day, and I noticed after I hadn't had any for a couple days that I hadn't had any stomach issues. I try not to drink soda at all these days, but when I have a craving I drink regular Coke. I also like Lipton Pureleaf teas. They're sweetened with actual sugar (or honey) instead of corn syrup.

If you don't like the yogurts, there is a similarish vitamin substitute .. Multibionta, a probiotic multivitamin (thats the name its sold by in the Uk). Don't know if it would definately help but it can be tried.

Also maybe have another word with a doc? I had very bad gas (more like a WMD!) & stomach pains for a long time which seems to be the result of a food intolerance. I've removed the substance from my diet and a lot of the gas has gone. I know you said you have mostly cut out soda but maybe keep a food diary for a while & see if anything else shows up as a trigger?

                  Arp happens!

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

I wasn't big on plain yogurt (I only liked the ones that came with cookie bits and stuff in them) but that Activia really works. It's an easy way to clean you out and get your digestive system back on track WITHOUT nausea or gas or the shits. It puts the vital bacteria that your body needs back in, whereas most of those "cleanse" products get rid of it.

I really like the cherry in the regular kind, and the raspberry in the light (light has only 70 calories but still 15% calcium).
