My new kitty that I just adopted is very sick.

Her lungs are full of fluid and they suspect heart failure.

The vet is very hesitant to speculate as to whether she will live the night.

    Prayers please for my kitty.

I've only had her a week, but I fell in love the minute I saw her.

She was a rescue from Gatekeeper, as was my current kitty.

They were just starting to get along really well, and she was starting to get used to me.

I'm so sorry Ree. I know how excited you were when you brought her home.

      I'll pray for her.

It doesn't help that I have been really sick, myself.
I'm feeling guilty that I might have missed symptoms because I've been so out of it since Wednesday.

She finished an antibiotic on Tuesday, and she seemed fine.

When Gatekeeper rescued her, she had pyometra, and they spayed her and put her on the antibiotic for a week.

She really seemed to be doing well, but after I woke from a nap this afternoon, I noticed something wrong. (I had called in sick today.)

I took her to the vet as soon as I could.

The vet is doing what he can for her in an effort to get rid of the fluid and take the pressure off the heart, but he was not very optimistic with me.

Gatekeeper has been giving me lots of information.

She keeps assuring me there probably weren't any symptoms to miss.

She is a very pretty kitty on the outside and the inside. She was such a sweetheart I knew she would be a good fit for Ree and her current furchild. Unfortunately with rescue kitty's there is only so much we can do with regards to checking their health. This particular issue there was no way of preventing it.

Ree knows my thoughts are with her and her new kitty. Of course, as much as Ree feels guilty about maybe missing some symptoms, I of course feel guilty for putting her through this. I only wanted to bring her more comfort and affection with the new kitty, not more loss. It is cold comfort to acknowledge that it is a risk we all take when we open our hearts to these furry little creatures.

If I hadn't brought her in when I did, she would have died a painful death on the street. The cause was because her previous humans didn't get her spayed, and abandoned her to the elements. The kitty's last month have been far more comfortable than they would have been if I hadn't brought her in, and Ree hadn't taken her into her home. In fact I think this little kitty has had an overwhelming amount of loves and cuddles since she arrived at Ree's house. If she doesn't make it, at least her last days were wonderful.

                  It still sucks btw.

The only thing I can say is hopefully people will learn from this: Spay and neuter your pets. And cats do not need to roam outside, especially if you live in the city (I live in the centre of a major city and the strays are a huge problem).

Ree you know I'm going through this with you, only separated by distance.
