But Jedi, you say, it's only February! Yes, I know that. However for hardcore gardeners like Mr Jedi now is the time to start growing seeds in the house that will be transplanted outside after the last frost. Today we started the onions. Here's our list of what we're growing this year:

    Rutgar tomatoes
    Brandywine tomatoes
    Zebra tomatoes
    Minnesota Midget cantelope
    Blacktail watermelon
    Honeydew
    Orange and Green Bell peppers
    Golden Delicious apples
    Carrots
    Red Onions
    Zuccini
    Butternut Squash
    Pole Beans
    Eversweet strawberries

I'm pretty stoked about my strawberry patch. Hubs is excited about the apples. Gurney's sells what they call Li'l Big trees that grow to about 6ft tall. Also, Golden Delicious is one of the few varieties of apples that doesn't need a second apple variety to pollenate. Next year I want to get a Pixie Crisp apple, which is supposed to be the sweetest apple on the market.

Anyone else growing anything this year?

I'll probably grow green peppers with my Topsy Turvy. When I did tomatoes last year I wound up with more of them than I knew what to do with.

Maybe cherry tomatoes instead? I dunno. I'd have to buy another Topsy Turvy, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

      I'm doing all easy stuff this year since it's my first garden in years and I need time to improve the soil;

      Tomatoes
      Cucumbers
      Watermelon
      Honeydew
      blackberries
      strawberries
      bush beans

What I'd really like to get is one of those fruit salad trees but I don't know if they'll grow out here. Most of my stuff will actually be coming in from Burpee. I've used them before in TN and have never had any problems with them.

I wish I had a garden. Or a patio. Or a place for a window box. Sadly...nothing. I'll just have to wait until the Farmer's Market re-opens in mid-April.
