Now that its out on blu-ray and I've gotten to nuzzle up to it for a few episodes....
Pilot was shaky. First half hour or so was awful with the neigh epileptic flashback/forward shit. Didn't become enjoyable till after it finished having its nervous break down and getting up to speed. From there on it was good, albeit not Stargate. This is a different beast entirely and Stargate only in name and Richard Dean Anderson guest appearances. Feels like it was a different show and they decided they could tie it into a franchise at the last minute and pulled Stargate out of a hat. Doesn't make a bad show mind you, its actually pretty good.
However, the random sex scenes are annoying and baffling. They seem tossed in just to make the show "edgy" and "adult" and are always awkward ( if not disturbing in one case so far <shudder> Lou Diamond Phillips ). They also seem to be happening between characters with zero connection to each other that suddenly one episode go "ZOMIGAWD LETZ HUMP"......and then forget each other exists by the next episode.
The character cast is interesting, but lacks the likability of proceeding Stargate series and a couple are pretty paper thin. Only Math Boy(tm) is really likable so far, frankly. And Rush actually, to a degree, just because he looks like I feel when I'm at work. -.-
Enjoying it so far, but only a few episodes left on disc 2 before I run out and cry then go back to Atlantis ( Rodney <3 ).
