  • My new monitor and the stress it caused.

So, my old flat-screen moniter died, and I been borrowing a friends while searching for a new cheap one. Today our I asked my school computer tech guy, if I could buy one. He said no, but he could give me one. He wasn't 100 percent if it worked, but hey, if it does once i'm not so lazy to put in, free monitor for me. It is a big one however. Still, free.

Anyway, I managed to get it the six plus blocks to max, while shrugging with my bag (It isn't a backpack, its a scooter type), it nearly falling from my hands several times as I managed to carry nearly likely 30 lbs of books on my shoulder (its in pain). I waited for max. I had to let three go as they were far too full, and no-way i can stand with that for the 30-40 minute train ride home. When I did get one, and get to my stop, I had one rather large woman, who decided to stand in front of one of the exits on the train, give me the stink eye.

Me: *shrugging with large monitar and bag* Um, excuse me. I need to get off.
Lady: *ignoring me, talking on her cell*
Me; Hey! Lady! My stop is here and the doors are going to close!
Lady: *Glares at me, ignoring my shrugge* EXCUSE ME! I'm on the PHONE!!

Thankfully she moved enough for me to shruggle through her fucking fat ass, (and for me to say that she was truely fucking large), the doors slamming on my bag, jerking it, nearly making me drop my cell and me cry out in pain.

I got to walk about five blocks, making several breaks as the sheer weight started to get to me. I get to safeway, which is about halfway home. I broke down, and called mom.

ME: Um, ma? Are you home yet?
    ma: No. Why?
ME: I really need help with the new monitor. Can I get a ride?
Ma: Its going to bea bout a hour.... (She sounds pissed)
ME: Thats fine. I can wait.
MA: FINE!! I had a ton of stuff to do after work but since its so damn important, fine!

ME: Thanks..> *Thinking you use it for facebook more then I do... but hey, free ride*

So I wait for the hour reading a book. I see mom's car fly into parking lot, and i hobble towards it, while a driver tries to run me over.

I finally start to get near it, when she pulls around and gets me, laughing.

    ME: ?? What's so funny?
MA: Well, I was getting pissed cause I didn't see you and was just going to leave. Now I see why you needed. I'm surprised you got this far with that big old thing!

Yeah. Mom thought it was just a little screen like my old one that I should have carried with one arm. She was no longer pissed at me. Happy I give her 200 bucks. She also got me dinner.

    Now I'm going to bed.

I'm sorry, Plaidman. I don't know what it was with MAX tonight - even my normal relatively empty train was packed tonight.

Urg...riding the train with a heavy load. THAT'S always fun. At least someone didn't decide to use the tracks as a dumping ground. Nothing like sitting on a stalled light rail while an emergency crew scurries to clear off the tracks from unknown debris that someone left behind...

Glad you got a new monitor though, and given that you're posting, I'm assuming it works?? Free is good, too!!

Ahhhh Max and having to pass up trains because they are too full. I love it. (not).

So how is the monitor working?

I knew there was a reason I drove into work today. $10.50 for parking is SOOO worth it, when I can make it home in 30 minutes. I was passing the Sunset Transit Center about the time I'd normally just be getting on the train.

Congrats on the new monitor. I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade the monitor for my desktop. Considering I use the laptop for 99% of my computing, it's not an easy decision.

I can somewhat relate to this. Once, years ago, I had to haul a 20" (I think...) television across town on the bus....

I was actually stopped by the police at one transfer stop with him asking for ID, and proof of ownership of the TV. It had been mine for a while, and I was just taking it to my new place. Luckily, he decided it wasn't worth holding me for it.

Haven't tried it yet for new montier. Friend is coming today to take back his. Not sure if he'll survive coming into my home. I told him the story, and he flat out said my mom had her head in her ass. As a mom, its her duty to basically be my servent.

No wonder he can't get a date, can't get a job, and his mom put him with his dad.
