  • So freaking CUTE!

Last night, I discovered one of life's greatest joys: watching my three-year-old goddaughter Lucy watch Fantasia for the first time. That movie entranced me since I was a kid, and it was so special to watch her discover it, too!

She was delighted with the fairies from the Nutcracker; hid behind a pillow for the intense parts of the Sorcerer's Apprentice (but was so interested that she peeked out from behind it the whole time!); laughed herself silly over the Pastoral Symphony and Dance of the Hours; and asked a million questions about the dinosaurs in Rite of Spring. Her mom was just happy that I was excited to answer Lucy's questions so she could get a moment or two of peace!

wish I'd gotten pictures...but I was too busy enjoying the movie!

I do hope she wasn't scared by the Night On Bald Mountain sequence, that one can be rather creepy.

Have either of you seen Fantasia 2000 yet? It's got some wonderful bits, like the Pines of Rome and Rhapsody In Blue sequences.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Oh, we didn't let her see that part, we turned it off after Dance of the Hours. Night on Bald Mountain scared all of us really badly when we were kids--we figure she can see it in about ten years.

I really like Fantasia 2000, though it's not quite up to par with the original. I would like to see them keep making them, actually: it would give them a chance to experiment more with animation styles and lesser-known music.
