If anyone should happen to have one of those recipes without the red food colouring I'd love to try it. The recipe in the Joy has food colouring in it, and my husband can't have red (or Tartrazine, but that's normally listed by name because so many people have trouble with it).

My sister and I made an original recipe we named "Steaming Pile." I have an old pic floating around somewhere. Will try to find and post.

BTW, that blue cake is amazing. What was the significance of the timepiece on top?

As for red dye, how about cochineal?

We're not sure which ones cause problems, and he doesn't want to experiment. Unless it's PC spicy clamato, and that's just because the spice apparently cuts down on the side effects.

The wedding was meant to have a bit of a Victorian theme, and it was to be a subtly steampunk cake. Thus the gears stamped into the sides. And a pocket watch is about the most steampunky thing ever, and I figured it could be an elegant topper.

It's made entirely of sugar. the body is gumpaste, the face is a piece of poured sugar, and inside are little gears made of gumpaste stacked into the cavity.
My webcomic is called Sidekick Girl. Val's job is kinda like retail, except instead of corporate's dumb policies, it's the Hero Agency, and the SC's are trying to take over the world.
