  • Am I The Only Person Who Does This?

It's my 500th post. And whenever I'm on a board long enough to have a significant number of posts, I find myself only starting threads when I've gotten to a "0" number.

It's like I've worked it out in my head that numbers ending in 0 are like milestones and therefore I should focus something long and meaningful there whereas the rest of my posts are reserved for responding to other posters.

Am I alone here or do others have a similar internal system worked out?

    Nope. :P

I did have a contest going with another poster to see how many posts we could get. I kinda disappeared for a while so he has a years worth of posts collected against me.

I used to keep track of my posts on a different forum, but there post count meant "EVERYTHING" they would have challenges to see if someone could be the last poster on every thread.

I was on one forum where I hit 10,000 posts and quit going back. I had wanted to leave for a while but I was determined to hit that number.

I'm not even sure how many I have here to be honest.

That answered my question 1621, hm.

I don't even notice the post count until someone mentions it. It never did mean anything significant, and since the board's reset so many times (not in the last few years, knock on formica) and some posts count and some don't, it's triply meaningless.
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

I guess I wasn't paying attention, as i missed my post count rolling over from 99 to 100.

I think the only time I really payed attention to my post count was on the previous Gamers.com board (I believe 10,000 was enough for the highest non-mod rank) and the now defunt Streetfighter.org (I was one post shy of "Black Belt" when I stopped posting, although there were varying "dans" above that).

GameFAQs.com has a karma system in which I believe 75 was the only meaningful amount, since you'd then have access to the full board (no posting restrictions, etc.).

I don't pay much attention to post count. It just makes me realize just how quiet I tend to be and makes me want to post just any crap that pops into my mind.

When I was still new to the internet, I used to go for the Members List on forums I'd go to to see who has the biggest post count. I'd see numbers like 9,423, 10,252, and 8,379. I never thought I could even come close.

That was back in 2002. Eight years later, I have a combined total postcount between all of the posts I've ever made in my life, of well over 40,000. Quality ones, not just one-word responses. (As a post-a-holic, I hate those.) But then, as the years went by, you tend to think "... meh. Now what." It does nothing.

When Raps first opened this site, both me and Drug Slinger were have races to keep highest post counts.

Then Raps shut us down tempory.

I'd like to do more posts, but they wouldn't be qualty. Besides, I tend to have very bad posts and no-one wants to read them.

I don't pay much attention to it. I've been posting more in the forums that don't count for a while now, so my actual count is A LOT higher. Though I am watching Becks's count. She just past up 9,000 recently, but I'm waiting for her to reach 10,000 so that I can send her a PM about how she needs a life...big time.

Looks like I need to upgrade my ranking list then.... The final title being Beck's Appretince.
