Seeking Business Website Advice

So, my company has a generally craptacular website and a passable one and the guy that was running them is dying (sad, but true). We're now looking into finding someone who can design and help maintain our sites so that they'll look like places you'd want to buy stuff from.

If anyone has some good advice on how to find a good designer of professional business websites (or knows or is someone), I'd appreciate any input.

The guy who's nominally in charge of dealing with this stuff is rather less than stellar and regularly locks us into dead ends and "good ol' boy" design decisions.

You might try Etsy. They have a "requests" section where you can post your request and other people can bid on your request. You can leave your request up for as long as you want to get as many bids as you want, and then look through them all and decide who you think would work best for what you're wanting to do.
