Knee Surgery

I finally got to get x-rays taken of my knee. Apparently there is a piece of bone in my knee right above the knee cap. The doctor had no clue where it had come from. It explains a lot of the problems I've been having. It means that if I want it taken care of though, I have to get arthroscopy surgery. They make two holes, one for the scope, and the other for whatever it is they use to get the bone fragment out. Luckily it's an out patient procedure and it sounds like it might not be too bad (as far as knee surgeries go) but I have to say I'm still nervous. I don't have the time set up yet because I have to look at if I've got the vacation time to do it before July and how much it's going to cost. Hopefully I can do it soon though.

I had the same type of surgery on the 1st of march which was supposed to be for the same thing but ended up not being that problem (long story). It's easy surgery as surgeries go just be careful putting weight on it afterwards and take it easy.

I can recommend getting a hot/cold knee brace This one comes with 2 ice packs for the brace so there is always a cold one waiting [if you do it right ]

Make sure you run that past your surgeon, heat/cold can affect recovery and while in some cases assist it can, depending on the surgery, make recovery more difficult.

It goes both ways, just follow the sheet they should give you when they release you into the wild ... if it says hot, use the hot function, cold, use cold =)
