I don't know if anyone else is watching this - but all I'm finding are resplendent errors after resplendent errors.

So far the following has happened
CPR was 'called' after approximately 10-15 seconds
A manual BP can be taken (and results given) as soon as the cuff is fully inflated
To collar and board someone takes around 5 seconds
CPR involves continually striking the chest (with bent elbows to boot)
When a patient is boarded they're wobbling far too much on the board
When handing over one patient between paramedics the receiving para doesn't need to know the method of injury.

This is after watching all of about 3 episodes - thing is I can't watch a full one as all I do is shout at the TV, my neighbours must think I'm nuts!

That's why I stopped watching my all time favourite medical drama; ER. Too many "That's wrong, that's wrong, that's wrong!" accusations!

No surprise. Go watch CSI with a forensic scientist sometime. Hell, I made the mistake of watching Jurassic Park with a paleontologist. That was interesting.

If the show/movie is in your field, expect to spend more time noticing mistakes than watching it. It's why I won't watch any movie set in the middle ages....

There was a sitcom a while ago in which a character went onto our sales floor (disguised but it was quite obviously representing us, due to type of signage and layout).Anyway he went up to the counter assistant and demanded money for a service fault, which she then paid out to him and he left.

Meanwhile all us call centre agents were screaming at the tv, are we redundant now? Why did the cashier both AUTHORISE and PAY the customer, it would be fraudulent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(i know it would have taken too much time to show him calling the call centre then returning for a payment, but it was disappointing).

while it didn't happen to my knowledge, I could just imagine SCs shouting at the counter assistants "yes you can pay me immediately, no i dont have to go Via a call centre, it was on TV!!!!!!!!!!"

I've stopped watching that - it just got me so annoyed.

I work in I.T. The movie Wargames is now a comedy. The Net made me want to beat someone to death. I laughed out loud in the theatre for GI Joe when I saw that the bad guys' top-secret super lab computer used Norton for security software.

I frequently giggle at inappropriate times during movies and TV shows when computers are involved.

If the show/movie is in your field, expect to spend more time noticing mistakes than watching it. It's why I won't watch any movie set in the middle ages....

And yet, for some reason, my husband wants MORE Mythbusters. It's PAINFUL to watch. There's really good myths we just can't stand to watch because of how bad the other one on the disc is, and yet...

I've done the collar/backboard thing. They had to get me out of the driver's seat of the car, too. Pretty sure it took longer than 5 seconds.

So..im kinda glad I dont watch that show then! Lol. Id be pulling my eyelashes out by the end of it.

Only "medical" show I watch is Scrubs...LOL. I live it too often to want to see it on TV.

My dad gets the same way with ATC or any sort of airplane/ship/whatever thing. You wouldn't believe how many things the History Channel gets wrong. Even I notice things that are wrong.

I tend to separate myself from what I know and just try to enjoy the show, but it can get hard sometimes!

I'm not in the field, but I've watched and been interested in forensics for long enough that CSI drives me nuts.

The movie that irritated me the most for just plain wrong information was Con Air. The whole conflict set up at the beginning with the "diabetic" prisoner had me pissed off. Oh, and I won't watch Titanic for the fact that the whole "story" part of the movie would never have happened.

I like Trauma too. And I do realize that there is no way certain things could happen the way they do or as fast as they do on the show. It's all done so fast so they can cram more drama into Trauma.

One episode of Hunter was pretty funny for me - they received a full-colour picture of a suspect electronically, and showed it coming out of the printer. Trouble was, it was an Epson dot-matrix (B&W only), and it was coming out at the form-feed (rather than the print) speed.

I was the same way a long time ago. I learned to suspend my disbelief pretty well in most cases. Occasionally though, something they do in a show is just so out of line, I have to do a double-take. *shakes head*

I can only watch NCIS by reminding myself that they compress details for the sake of story, and that they compress how many people are involved for the sake of keeping the show a watchable one.
