Funny that Easter is tomorrow...

IMO it would have been better if it happened on Ostara but,

This morning when I was feeding the chickens I noticed TWO little eggs! The first serious lay since the winter began! This means both chickens laid an egg.

Not only that, the quail that we got back in December, one of them laid an egg. Tiny little thing (of course, quail are small). It looks like 2-3 of these would be about the same as a bantam egg (which 2-3 of those are the equivalent of a large egg).

I don't know if it is because I switched them to a much healthier diet earlier in the week or just timing but I can't complain!

I saw a smooshed bunny in my driveway yesterday Thought that was a tad to horribly ironic.

Congrats on the eggs! I love chickens...one of my favorites tents at fairs is the poultry tent.....so many cute chickens!!

Last night on Duval Street (the main drag with a gazillion bars) I saw a lot of girls with bunny ears, but this one was hilarious, dancing and prancing about and giving out Peeps to any and all who wanted them. She was definitely enjoying herself (and I was enjoying the view).

I celebrated Easter by gathering my niece and nephew around the computer and watching youtube videos of people doing horrible things to marshmallow peeps and chocolate bunnies. There are more ways to melt a chocolate bunny than might immediately come to mind...

It's Easter morning, and I just put a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls in the oven! New recipe, so we'll see how it turns out.

My husband and I don't have family in the area, and even if we did, neither of our families really celebrate Easter much. My parents would probably have us over or take us out for breakfast if we were closer, but that's about the extend of it. Instead, DH and I are going over to a friend's house to play D&D or some random board game.

Yeah, I don't give too much thought to Easter, but I did just enjoy a lovely 2 hour 15 min hike, and getting ready to go do the family thing, then will try to get another 2 hr hike in to burn all the food I will be consuming. Too nice a day here to be trapped indoors.

No matter what you celebrate, there is one awesome thing about Easter - peanut butter eggs. I have three in the freezer right now. They most likely won't be there tomorrow morning.

Yeah, I wish I did something more useful on Easter than sitting in my room and avoiding my family.

Ostara is the Pagan celebration of the spring equinox (when the days finally take over the night and to celebrate birth and the renewal of life - hence many egg-related traditions).

Sadly, one of our quail died last night. I suspect she was egg-bound (they cannot pass the egg and die from it). I only suspect this since they just started to lay eggs (we had another chicken that died from being egg-bound a few years ago).

So we're down to 3 quail but it should still be OK. The other 3 seem healthy (well, they all seemed healthy yesterday when I fed them). I don't think it was the diet change since I changed the to a healthier food.
