  • Pulse Rifle

So, after playing AVP I've come up with my biggest (and technically only) project to date. This summer, I wanna build an M41A Pulse Rifle. I've gone to this site: http://www.m41a.com/ for tips and instructions on how to build it. I wanted to ask, has anyone here built one or done a similar project? Are there any tips you can give me aside from what's been published?

Also, I plan on keeping y'all abreast of my progress once I start.

So I found a toy Remington 870 shotgun that I thought I'd use for the grenade launcher. Does anyone think it'll work?

No advice to offer, except to say: Too cool. And remember, short controlled bursts

Granted it isn't actually a caseless weapons system, but still.

Thanks Talon. I found an airsoft version of the 870, but it's a clear plastic version (here: http://www.airgundepot.com/remington...t-shotgun.html)

Considering I'm taking the whole thing apart, basically, I would just have to paint the gun in order to make it look authentic, correct?

That.... loooks so freaking cool. And I'm normally a melee weapon fan, and if I do go ranged, its crossbow or longbows.

So uh... yeah. How much is that going to cost? Maybe I can do one later. Likely not. I'm terrible at inventing.

But still. I'm rooting. I want updates!

Thanks Plaid. If I do it Airsoft, it's around $250, and a lot of that is the custom stuff I gotta buy from people. If I did it with real weapons (deactivated M1 Thompson and 870/Spas-12 parts) it's around $800, so I'm aiming for cheapy.

PS: If anyone by chance has an 870 I can butcher, that'd be appreciated.

              Make it...out of paper!

              http://aliens.humlak.cz/aliens/alien...ns-m41_gb.html

Is a place to download papercraft plans of the M41A and grenades and stuff.

If you want to make it out of something more solid, I could put you in touch with a guy who I know who makes roman armour and stuff who might be able to help you out (One of his most recent projects was to make Halo 1 Marine armour, so he might be able to give you some tips.

Hey Raven. Yeah, I'd love to get in touch with him. I wonder if he'd be able to machine me the custom parts like the shroud etc.

Quite possibly not as I think he's busy with stuff, but he might know people or where to get things.

Hell, he's made his own musket.

What do you think of the papercraft one? lol

Edit: Asked him, though dunno how much it'd cost you for him to machine parts if he can if he's not too busy.

Hell, I think he himself is working or going to work on making a functional MA5B from Halo, or semi function at least as it won't exactly match the specs because the ammo count in the MA5B doesn't fit the real world dimensions.

Papercraft sounds inventive, but I want mine to function. Never know when I have to stave off a Xenomorph infestation LV-426 for reals

Well, the site I got info from has a contact for the custom parts. I'd like to compare prices to save money if i can...

Well the paperwork one could help you with the dimensions and stuff.

Got word back from him, he says he'd be happy to help, so I've just asked him for his email so you two can get in contact.
