The cage I have my eye on is a plastic one, and it has a plastic wheel on the inside, attached to the wall. I'm just scared that he may chew through the plastic. Which reminds me, I have a story!!
I used to have a Hermit crab. Said hermit crab decided to molt his claw about 2 days after I bought him, and my mother thought he was dead. Said hermit crab went in the trash while I was at school.
I kept the cage. It was made of thick plastic, while the lid was just flimsy pink plastic. This is important. The cage looked like this. http://www.crabbyshack.com/images/crab_cage.JPG
My mother was a little weird. When I say weird, I mean she used to catch the field mice we had in the house, and keep them for pets. The second one she caught managed to chew through the flimsy plastic at the top and escape.

Which is why we switched to gerbils, after the hamsters wore out.
