Regarding the tablets. My mum has to give one of our two tablets twice a day EVERY day (poor thing has Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease). A couple of tips if you are ever required to give your cat tablets:
-Once the tablet is in it's mouth, wait for it to lick its lips. That's usually the indication it's swallowed it.
-Don't mix up your tablets and the cats tablets (my mum did that-thankfully they aren't poisonous to humans, she just had to wait 12 hours before she could take one of hers)
-My mum usually tends to hold our cat's mouth closed for a few seconds after she puts the tablet in his mouth, to make sure that he swallows. If he spits it up, he knows it's going back in.
-If all else fails, your vet might have a pill popper that you can use. Basically you load it up on one end, stick the plastic tube in its mouth, push the plunger and the tablet goes right down to the throat.
