  • Disappointed in the Avatar DVD

I bought the combo pack (on sale for only $2 more than just the DVD) and I have to say I'm quite disappointed in the DVD.

No special features, no previews, just the movie.

I should have expected this - how long will it be before we get "special editions" that have extended scenes, special features.

Honestly, I think towards the end of the summer we'll see another version of the DVD come out and most likely another version just before the holiday season.

Maybe James Cameron will issue a combo pack of "Terminator", "Titanic" and "Avatar".

You can watch as Ahhnold kills everyone on the ship and then turns blue.

Maybe I'll be singing a different tune when I get a high def TV and a blue ray player. Hell, maybe I'll even spring for one of those 3D TVs.

I have been noticing more and more that all the special features are on the blu ray disk and not the normal DVD

I think we are going to rent this one, want to see what it looks like on our LED tv but not sure if we would watch it enough to buy it.

There was a big stink about "The Dark Knight Returns" as well, with special features on the Blu-Ray and not on the DVD. I figure it's just the corporations trying to push everyone into upgrading to Blu-Ray.

in this case I believe that the regular DVD (and Blu-Ray) with special features will be out in Oct or Nov. I have seen posts on other places ranting about this bare bones version.

add me into the "I WANT the special features" crowd. I like the featurettes on the making of, the tech behind (esp this one), etc.

I had asked my boss about this at the night of the midnight release at our store - he told me that he had confirmed with our corp. that the 3D version will be released in Nov, probably along with the special features, etc. Guh.

                    3D porn already available? Nice.

So I have roughly 7 months to save up $200 for a 3D BR player and roughly $3000 for a 3D TV. Not bad, only a little under $500 a month.

They're probably waiting for after summer. Cameron has announced they're going to re-release Avatar in the theaters with about 8 mins of extra footage that was cut.

Re-release for only 8 extra minutes?

Dear lord, I made the mistake of buying a large soda for that movie on top of us being a few mins too late, and since I didn't want to miss a moment, suffice it to say, at the end of those nearly 3 hours at the movies, I had to piss like a racehorse. And this was one of those pisses similar to the song that doesn't end.
